911 8x07 Hotshots
This episode didn’t give me much to work with, so it’s not really a meta post but something in between with my personal opinion. Mostly about Buck.
First of all I want to say that Tim commenting fandom through FlashRob and Hotshots - nice move. Also Bobby storyline - awesome! Love it! So much fun!
BUCK: Too many baking scenes for my taste. 3 time reminder can be a little annoying, but… I thought about it in context to the lightning strike and Brad saying his character is in a coma. Buck knows calling Tommy is wrong, because deep down it’s not Tommy he misses but how comfortable in his own skin he felt and of course the rush of new relationship which allowed him to explore his sexuality. So yes, baking is about Buck not understanding what his next move should be in terms of being bi. The line about which pond to jump into is the quintessence of his dilemma, the core of falling into baking string.  Tommy didn’t teach him anything, didn’t show him queer spaces, didn’t introduce him to people who would make Buck feel more sure/comfortable about his sexuality. Buck didn’t seem to need it, because he felt comfortable with Tommy, and this is what is drawing him back. It can be scary to take that step alone, and while I have no doubt Buck wouldn’t have a problem flirting with guys, I believe he is stuck at the start line, meaning he doesn’t know which guys he can flirt with. It’s not rocket science, but when you’re sitting alone at home, thinking you want some intimacy with a male friend, you suddenly realize you have no idea what to do, where to look, so it’s natural you miss and seek familiarity.  Let’s circle back for a moment. Buck said he doesn’t know which pond to jump into… he didn’t say he doesn’t want to jump at all, or that he’s not ready. And this is why I think his obsessive baking has nothing to do with Tommy and everything to do with his sexuality and understanding himself. He followed an easy path - a guy kissed him (confusing him about his feelings by the way), they got into a relationship and he never analyzed it too deeply what it meant to him. Now he’s left to figure it out by himself. And here is where coma comes into play. Buck is stuck right now, unsure, a little lost. If you want to go further you can say his world has changed and he has to learn the rules anew (like in his dream). The key to waking up from a coma was to realize that being Buck is enough. Well, it’s still true in terms of his sexuality, and I think that calling himself ‘bisexual’ on screen would be a nice end to his struggle and a nice step forward.
It would be really funny if Buck would figure himself out in the same episode that Brad’s character would wake up from coma.
Another thing about Buck I want to mention is more sweet and Buddie related.  The scene in the firehouse, how Eddie steals Buck’s phone, playing hot potato with it. Come on, it’s basically a school puppy courting. If Buck had braids Eddie would be pulling them. And Buck even asked the teacher for help, and Bobby actually had to admonish/tap Eddie to give Buck his phone back. It’s a nice way to show that Buck is not alone, and his family, however savage sometimes, are there for him. It’s also a nice way to show goofy Eddie, the one who tries to be joyful (that little hop over the couch, awww), and it’s easy and natural with Buck. This scene also made me think about what Maddie said: “So does this boy-crush on Eddie mean you’re finally ready to move on from Abby?” I’m probably seeing too much into this, but it makes me happy so… who cares!
Now, I see a lot of people upset about Buck and Eddie being stuck, like there is no progress compared to the last episode. But I think it’s not that bad. These things, figuring yourself out, takes time, and I believe Tim is taking every opportunity to tell their individual stories right. It’s better to drop a few short scenes telling the audience “Buck is struggling, Eddie is choosing joy” than put something more significant into the episode with 2 other big plotlines. I know it feels like Buck and Eddie are on two different paths, parallel to each other, but those paths will meet eventually and we won’t be prepared for that.
We should watch our backs, because something is coming right at us. This is actually the theme of this episode…
Starting with Athena - at that sting operation, when she was told she’ll have a rookie and later when she shares her opinion about him. Gerrard and Bobby have Brad creeping behind them. Eddie get scared by the Chief, and of course his scene with Buck when he gives the phone back (and this one is the closest of them all).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now… I would ignore it, call it a comic relief if that would happen once or twice (Athena with the rookie, and Bobby with Brad), but seven times? Something’s up… And I have a feeling it's about next episode. Maybe someone's past will catch up to them, or someone will hear something they shouldn't, or not being aware of their surroundings will put them in danger... I don't know, there is something ominous about it. Or you know, I missed something deeper in this episode or this is a message for us, fans, like I said, to watch ourselves because we have no idea what’s coming. Or maybe... someone is watching us...

Swipe Right
Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x F!Reader
Summary: Bucky has been your neighbor for a few months now, so he likes to think you two are friends. Which is why he thinks you're the best person to go to to help him get back into the dating scene.
AN: inspired by one line of dialogue from the first ep of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. lol also, FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER EP 1 SPOILERS!
Tumblr media
Bucky felt lost. Well, he's always felt lost ever since he suddenly came back along with have of the world's population. He was pardoned by the government and now a civilian. He was going through therapy to deal with his 70+ years worth of trauma and trying to navigate his way through the modern world. Everything was new and exciting but also overwhelming and exhausting.
His therapist encouraged him to date and make friends. So that's what he did, or at least, tried to do.
He considers you a friend. You live in the apartment right beside him, gave him a friendly smile and helping hand when he first moved in. You two chatted when you'd run into each other in the hall or in the laundry room. You were nice, attractive, funny. He honestly thought about asking you out a few times, but you were his friend, his only friend it seems. So he couldn't ruin that. Therefore, he resorted to online dating.
He signed up to a bunch of dating websites and apps: eharmony, match.com, plentyoffish, tinder-SO MANY. Why are there so many dating apps?!
He's scrolling through his phone, so overwhelmed by the different pictures and information. What does DTF mean???
He scowls, tossing his phone onto a pile of dry laundry he should be folding. You enter the laundry room with a chuckle, "Everything alright?"
He glances over his shoulder and sees you. He immediately smiles and faces you, "Hey, um, yeah," he gestures to his phone, "Just, um..." he lets out a sigh and asks, "Do you know anything about dating?"
You look at him curiously and reply, "A little. Why? What's up?"
"I'm just," he nervously scratches his head and places his hands on his hips, "I'm trying this online dating thing and it's...a lot."
You can't help but snort, "I feel ya," you give him a reassuring smile despite your heart dropping to your stomach, "So, uh, what sites or apps are you on?"
"Um...all of them?"
You snort again, "No way. Let me see your phone." you hold out your open palm to him and he places his phone into your hands after unlocking it. You swipe through his apps and your brows shoot up to your hairline, "Well it's not all of them , but it's definitely a lot." you look up from the phone to Bucky, "Can I give some advice?"
"Please, I'll take anything you can give me," he replies desperately.
You hop onto the washing machine and hold up his phone, "Okay. These apps are usually for the older crowd. Like thirty five and up, so if you're not picky about age, feel free to keep these. Now, these apps are what the younger generations use. Tinder is usually for hook ups, one night stands and all that. Not many people take Tinder seriously. Bumble, is a level up from Tinder. You'll find people who are more serious about finding a relationship with also a mix of people looking for something casual. Hinge, I think, is a level up from Bumble. You don't see people's typical lame ass bios, but their answers to some fun questions, what kind of relationship they're looking for, if they smoke or do drugs, etc. Also, I'm not sure if you know this, but you can change the age range on all of these apps. So instead of having it from 18 to 50, you can narrow it so 25 to 35 or however you want."
You look at Bucky and see his brows are furrowed in...concentration? Confusion?
"Was that too much? Do I need to slow down?"
He shook his head, "No, no, that's not it. Um, thanks, Y/N," he shoots you a grateful grin and you smile back, "No problem, Bucky." You see the gears turning in his head and you ask a question, he might be scared to ask you, "Do you want me to help you find some potential dates?"
"Will you?" he asks in that same desperate tone from earlier.
Again, you put on a smile, despite your breaking heart, "Sure!"
You tap on Hinge, double checking on his preferences, and then going to the main page.
"Oh! Look here. She's a single mom, but she's also a nurse. On the weekends, you're most likely going to find her wine drunk and watching movies with her kids. She has pets. She'd like to have more kids some day. She sounds nice. How 'bout it, Bucky?"
"Sure. She-She sounds good."
"Cool! So you tap on the heart on whatever thing on her page. So let's like her....answer here. If you want, you can comment something, but if not, you just forward it and hope to see that she'll like you back and you can start messaging her! Also, it looks like some people already like you! So you just tap on this icon here and you can scroll through the different people who've liked something on your page and it's up to you if you want to make contact or not."
Bucky hums and plucks his phone from your hands, "Wow. This-Thanks Y/N. This really helped."
"No problem, Buck! If you ever need more help, just let me know!" you hop off the washer and proceed to start up a load of laundry. You mind running back and forth about how you should shoot your shot, but you were too afraid of ruining the friendship you and Bucky have.
______________________
Bucky: Hey
You: What's up?
Bucky: can you come over? I need more help with this online dating situation.
You: sure!
You let your phone fall to your side with a sigh, Bucky has been asking for your help with his online dating for two weeks now and while you're always happy to help him, it just sucks seeing someone get his attention that you wish you had.
You roll out of bed, not caring about how you looked and exit your apartment, knocking on Bucky's door.
He swings open to reveal him in a tight blue henley and some black jeans, "Hey!" he shoots you a grin and moves aside to let you in, "So, um, this girl, Janine. We've been messaging for a few days now and she wants to meet up. Is that too soon? And where should I take her? I've," he pauses to chuckle to himself, "I haven't dated since the forties so..."
Despite your feelings for him, you knew Bucky deserved to be happy, especially after all the shit he's gone through.
"Hm, well, what kind of vibes are you getting from her?"
"Vibes?"
"Yeah, um, what feelings do you get when you talk to her? Do you feel happy? Do you want to get to know her more?"
"Uh, yeah, I suppose so. I think it'd be nice to meet her in person and get to know her more face to face."
"Then yeah, take her out. But since it's your first time meeting her in person, it should be something casual. Low key, no pressure. A decent restaurant or a bar is probably best."
Bucky nods, "Yeah. Okay. Um, do you think you could help me pick something out?"
You can't help but laugh, "Bucky, I'm sure whatever you choose to wear, you'll be fine."
"Okay. Thanks, Y/N," he slowly wraps his arms around you for a hug, but not too tight in case you're uncomfortable. You surprise him by hugging him back, giving him a little squeeze, "You're welcome, Bucky."
It was Saturday and you didn't have work. You friends asked you to hangout with them, but you didn't want to. You wanted to stay holed up in your apartment, wallowing because Bucky would be going on his date with Janine tonight.
You're mindlessly watching tv , curled up on the couch. You turn your face into the pillow and scream in frustration. You should've just asked him out when you had the chance, but now that chance is gone.
You groan as you roll off the couch and head to your balcony. You just need some fresh air. You push up your window and climb onto the metal balcony. You sit on the outdoor chair you have there and stare up into the night sky. The stars are twinkling, the moon is shining. It looks like a perfect night for a date and here you are, alone.
"Hey-"
"AAAHHH!" you scream by the sudden appearance of Bucky on his own balcony. You're staring at him wide eyed, hand on your chest.
Bucky couldn't help but laugh at your expression, "Sorry."
You shake your head and stand to meet him, "It's fine. What're you doing here? I thought you were on your date."
"Yeah, uh, turns out Janine didn't, what phrase did you use once, pass the vibe check?"
You snort, covering your mouth as you giggled. Bucky's smile grows at the sound and you pull yourself together, "Um, yeah that's it. But I'm sorry."
He shrugs, leaning against the railing, "Honestly, it's okay. I don't think the online dating thing is really for me. I think I'll probably stick to the old fashion way: meeting in person and asking them out on a date."
"That's understandable," you say with a nod.
"So how 'bout it?"
You look at him confused, "How 'bout what?"
"Do you wanna go on a date sometime?" you give a look of surprise and Bucky immediately adds, "But I totally understand if you don't want to. I just-you're nice, and beautiful, and funny I thought maybe-but we're friends so I totally understand if you don't-"
"No, no. Bucky, I just-I'd love to go on a date with you."
"Yeah?" You nod and he holds out his hand, "Come on then."
You give a nervous chuckle, "What?"
"I picked up a pizza after that disastrous date. We can eat and watch a movie. Casual and no pressure, right?"
You look from his striking blue eyes to his outstretched glove hand. You reach out to place your hand in his but then pull back, "Wait. I should probably change."
You step back to head back into your apartment, but Bucky grabs your hand, "You don't have to. You look great."
You chuckle and begin to climb from your railing to Bucky's, with his help, "Alright, Prince Charming. I expect to be wooed tonight."
"Of course you do, which is why I ordered pizza from your favorite place and I'm letting you pick the movie we watch."
"Bucky Barnes, I could kiss you!" you exclaim thoughtlessly but then you realized what you just said. You shook your head and began to ramble off excuses, "No no! I mean not now! Now that I don't want to kiss you. You're very kissable. Not that I imagine kissing you or anything it's just-"
Bucky leans in and gives you a little peck on the cheek, "I don't kiss until after the date's over, doll. So will that suffice for now?"
You could feel your cheeks heating up as you nodded and squeaked out, "Yup!"
He chuckled, taking your hand in his again and leading you to the couch where the pizza was waiting for you.

@911christmasweek day 2: holidays alone or with company
buddie (954 words) (read it on ao3)
I'm gifting every fic I post this week to one the wonderful people I've met in this fandom! day two is for @evanbucxley! happy holidays, and thank you for making the 911 fandom such a lovely place to be!
“Eds, come take the soup off the stove!” Buck calls.
Eddie walks into the kitchen and pretends, just for a minute, that this is something he can have. That Buck will always keep him from burning dinner, that every Christmas he’ll be able to place a present with Buck’s name on it under the tree, that the warm feeling in his chest is permanent.
He moves the soup to a different burner and grins at Buck. “What would I do without you?” he asks.
“Eat a whole lot more takeout, for one,” Buck replies with a laugh.
“Fuck you,” Eddie says lightly.
“Backatcha, Diaz,” Buck grins. He hops off the counter. “So, come on, how does it taste? I’m dying to know if the mustard powder was a good addition.”
“That wasn’t funny the first time you said it, and it isn’t funny now,” Eddie says wryly, grabbing a spoon from the drawer. He tastes the soup. “Delicious as always, Buck.”
“Damn, I miss food,” Buck says, stepping through the kitchen island and leaning over Eddie’s shoulder to smell the soup.
The silvery sheen that clings to Buck’s skin wavers, the way it often does when he’s feeling something strongly.
“Tell me what’s wrong?” Eddie asks softly.
Buck smiles sadly. “My sister used to make this for me every Christmas Eve. I just miss her, that’s all. I always do, this time of year.”
“I could call her,” Eddie reminds him.
Buck shakes his head. “She’s moved on, Eds. Telling her I’m still hanging around… it’ll just hurt her.”
“I’m sorry, Buck.”
“Sorry for what?”
Eddie swallows and looks away. “I’m supposed to help you, the way I helped all the others,” he says. “It’s been months, and I still don’t know why you’re here. I’m sorry I can’t fix this.”
“Eddie, don’t.” Buck’s ghostly aura wavers even more, and Eddie aches to reach out, to comfort with his hands where his words fall short.
“Come on,” Eddie says. “I have something for you.” He gestures towards the living room.
In the light of the Christmas tree, it’s easy to believe that Buck is as alive as anyone. His cheeks are rosy and his lips are pink, and Eddie’s just brave enough to admit to himself that he’d like to kiss him.
“Here,” Eddie says, grabbing a present from beneath the tree. “I know you can’t actually open it, but this is for you.”
“You… you got me a gift?” Buck asks, staring at his hands.
“Yeah,” Eddie says. “You- I know it’s a little unconventional, but you’re important to me. You’re my family.”
Buck looks up at him, mouth dropping open. “Eddie…” he says softly.
“It’s stupid, I know,” Eddie says, looking down. “I just… I needed you to know, okay?”
“No, Eddie, that’s not-” a tear slips down Buck’s cheek.
“What?” Eddie asks him softly.
Buck offers him a watery smile. “It’s just… nice,” he says. “Not to be alone for Christmas, I mean. It’s, uh, it’s been a really long time. Even before I died, I’d be on my own for a while. Thank you.”
Eddie drops down to the couch next to him, leaning towards him, wishing he could bump their shoulders together. He could swear he feels the ghost of the touch, a tingling sensation that erupts in his arm and sends shivers across his body.
“I’m glad you’re here, Buck,” Eddie says softly, like it’s some kind of secret.
“Me too,” Buck whispers. Another tear slips down his face.
“Tell me what’s wrong?” Eddie asks.
Buck closes his eyes. “I never… it never really bothered me, being dead, you know? I- I don’t even remember how I died. I was alone for so long, Eddie, and then I met you, and- and it changed everything. I know you’re supposed to help me move on, but I don’t don’t want to go. Eddie, please, please don’t make me.”
Another tear slips down Buck’s cheek, and Eddie reaches out without thinking to brush it away. “I don’t want you to go,” Eddie says, letting his fingers linger against the warm skin of Buck’s face.
“Eddie,” Buck gasps.
“You…” Eddie breathes. He drags his fingers along the length of Buck’s jaw, revelling in the feeling.
“I don’t understand,” Buck says softly.
“It’s a Christmas miracle,” Eddie jokes weakly, grasping Buck’s hand in his own.
Buck laughs wetly. “It’s not Christmas yet, Eds.”
“Buck,” Eddie asks slowly. “How did you die?”
“I’ve told you before, I don’t remember. I was alive, and alone and I always felt invisible, and then one day I woke up and I really was.”
“I see you,” Eddie whispers.
Buck smiles softly. “You’ve always seen me.”
“Do you think, maybe, that’s the point?”
“I don’t understand,” Buck says, leaning into his touch.
“I heard a story once,” Eddie says, “about a man who felt alone, and invisible, and unloved. So much so that he slipped into the space between worlds, not alive, not dead. Completely alone.”
“Sounds familiar,” Buck murmurs. “How did it end?”
“Happily ever after,” Eddie whispers.
“Sounds like a fairytale,” Buck replies.
“There’s just one thing we’re missing.”
Buck smiles softly. “What’s that?”
Eddie swallows, suddenly nervous. “True love’s kiss,” he whispers.
Buck leans in, but hesitates. “Eddie, is this real?” he asks. “I don’t think I could survive having this and losing it all over again.”
Eddie drops his forehead against Buck’s, relishing the warmth he finds there. “This is real,” he promises. “I love you, you know that, right?”
A harsh sob escapes Buck’s lips. “You changed everything for me, Eddie, everything. I know. I love you, too.”
“Please kiss me,” Eddie whispers.
Buck does.
He never spends a Christmas alone again.

I’m coming home to you
Christopher wanted to see his Buck today and who was Eddie to refuse? They picked up Buck for a nice day at the pier. When things go from great to catastrophic, will Eddie reunite with Buck and Christopher. Based off this tumblr post by @sexyapplemilk
This story is for @sexyapplemilk/ @fandom-101 @its-like-looking-in-3d
Thank you to @not-falling-but-flying for reading over this long long fic!
I hope you guys like it!
----
Eddie and Buck had the same day off. Well Eddie had the day off and Buck didn’t have work but potato potatoe. It was Saturday so Chris didn’t have school today either.
Eddie was sitting across from Chris at the breakfast table munching their way through breakfast. It had been a quiet morning so far, Chris was lost in his own thoughts. Eddie wondered if his kid was planning anything, but decided not to put much thought into it.
“Daddy can we see Bucky today?” The question made Eddie cock his eyebrow. He knew that Buck had been wallowing in his bed for the past few days after he got the news he couldn’t go back to work just yet. Part of him didn’t want to disturb the younger man, but the other part of him figured this could be good for Buck. Also he can’t say no to his kid.
“Let me ask him if he’s free.” Eddie will probably come over anyways, Buck can’t get mad at him, he had Chris. “Finish your breakfast first though mijo.” Chris shouts in joy and resumes eating his breakfast, bagel with fruits cause eddie can’t mess that up, with renewed rigour. Eddie smiles fondly at his kid while he takes a bit of fruit.
Eddie made Chris finish getting ready for the day. They had to do Chris’s PT, get changed, fix their hair. Eddie combed his hair back, put on a nice white shirt and a plaid button up, jeans, and some sneakers. Chris put on a yellow stripped shirt and blue pants. He waited impatiently for his dad by the door. Eddie chuckled, unlocked the door then walked with his kid to the car. “What do you want to do for today Chris?”
“We can color or Bucky says he got a new video game!”
“You don’t want to go outside?”
Chris looks at his dad curiously. Eddie helps him into the car then doubling back to get into the drivers seat. He starts the car and starts to drive. “What could we do outside?”
“You could go to the park, play on the play structure?”
Chris wrinkles his nose. “Bucky can’t fit on it though, I know, we’ve tried.” Eddie laughs out loud at that. The idea of Buck trying to fit into a play structure is way too amusing.
“Well okay then, no park, we could… go to the laser tag?”
“I promised I’d go with Denny next week though.”
“Hmmm yea we gotta keep our promises don’t we?”
“That’s what you always say.”
“Well maybe Buck will have better ideas huh?”
“Bucky has the best ideas!”
---
They get up to Buck’s apartment and Eddie doesn’t knock, instead he just lets himself in. The apartment is eerily quiet and Eddie wonders if Buck wasn’t home. “Buck, Hey Buck me and Chris are here to hang out.” He looks around the apartment for any signs of his best friend.
“Daddy look.” Chris points up to the loft to the mass on the bed.
Eddie smiles proudly at his kid. “Good job mijo. Go sit in the living room while I go rouse Buck.”
“Can I watch tv?”
“Sure kid.”
Eddie sets Chris up in the living room before heading up to Buck. The bedroom is a bit messy, loose clothes strung everywhere. The blinds are closed and all the lights are off. Any evidence Buck is here is the gigantic mass on the bed. Eddie frowns in worry, before getting to work. He opens up all the blinds and repeatedly pulled the covers off of Buck to force him to get up.
“Dude I have nothing to do today.”
“Nope, you're taking me and Chris, more importantly Chris, somewhere today. Heads up, he’s vetoed the park and laser tag and he’s downstairs. Get changed and start thinking of places to go. I’ll make you something to eat.”
Buck looks at him incredulously. “Eddie, you can’t cook.”
“Yea it’ll probably be toast or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but food is food and you need to eat.”
Eddie watches Buck calmly. Anger, confusion, acceptance and happiness flit across his face. He gives Eddie a smile before turning around. “Okay Eddie. Anything for my favorite Diaz.”
Eddie knows he means Chris, he still leaves the loft with a small smile.
---
The Diaz’s make Buck a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with some strawberries Eddie found in Buck’s fridge. Buck’s in a white shirt and a plain pink button up. His hair is slightly gelled up and any trace of sadness was gone from his eyes. Happily he let Chris pull him to the kitchen table. “Wow this all looks so good buddy, did you make it?”
Chris beamed. “No Dad helped a bit.”
“You coulda convinced me otherwise.”
Chris giggled as Eddie rolled his eyes, “I cut up the strawberries.” Buck made a small noise of understanding before starting to eat. Chris quietly colored beside him. Occasionally he stole Buck’s strawberries. If Buck cared he didn’t comment on it.
“So have you picked where we’re going Buck?” Eddie asked.
“Yes actually, May’s been talking about visiting the Pier with her friends and I figured  if it was good enough for her, it’s good enough for us right? You wanna go to the pier buddy?”
“What’s on the pier?”
Buck’s face lit up in a blinding smile. Quickly he starts listing off all the unhealthy snacks sold at the pier. Eddie shakes his head and mock glares at Buck, but he only gets a cheeky grin in response.
“You’re going to give him such a sugar high. Ugh, if you want to do this you have to put him to bed tonight.”
“You’re going to stay with us for the whole day?!” Chris smile could put the sun to shame. He looked eagerly between his father and his Buck.
“Sure Buddy if that’s what you want.” Chris nodded his head so fast he looked like a bobble head.
Buck chuckled, “Okay buddy, I’ll hop you up on sugar then have the pleasure of tucking you in.” Buck sent Eddie a teasing smile, only to receive an eye roll in response.
Once Buck finishes his food, the boys head for Buck’s jeep. They could’ve ridden in Eddie’s truck, but Buck likes driving more than Eddie. Chris’s car seat is transferred to the back of Buck’s jeep and they all pile in. Some top 40s song blares from the radio as they head to their destination.
The wind feels nice in Eddie’s hair. He stares out the window as he listens to Chris and Buck have an animated conversation. Eddie doesn’t really pay attention to it, but it still sounds nice, his son and best friend being happy.
“Will you ride with us Eddie?”
“Hmm?”
“The bumper cars? Do you want to ride on the bumper cars with us?”
“Oh why not. You sure though, I’ll kick your butt.”
Buck squacks offendedly. “As if, I’m a pro at bumper cars Diaz. In fact I should be asking if you’re okay going against me.” Buck flashes him a cocky smile and Eddie gives him a deadpan stare. He’s impossible yet so endearing. Eddie can’t bring himself to hate it, any of it for a second.
----
Going to the pier, Eddie will admit, was a very good choice. The smell of fried food and the noise of the amusement park rides was relaxing. It felt like being back at the state fairs in Texas. Buck and Chris dragged him along to every ride and Eddie went willingly. He doesn’t remember the last time he had so much fun.
Eventually they tired down. Eddie was sitting on a bench next to Buck with a frankly gigantic brown bear on his lap. Chris is watching the surfers surf the waves down below with Buck holding onto his shirt. Eddie let himself relax after spending a whole day running after a child and a golden retriever. When Chris comforted Buck, Eddie snuck a photo of the moment. Buck was smiling sadly up at Chris while Chris held Buck’s chin in his hand. It was so sweet Eddie could’ve gotten a toothache.
He went about saving the photo when Chris started talking again. “Where did all the water go?”
---
So there was a Tsunami in California, and Eddie was in the middle of it. He really can’t have nice things. Immediately Buck grabbed Chris and together they started running off the pier. Man can’t outrun nature though and they were barely halfway across the pier when they got swept away.
---
Buck tightened his hold on Chris as he felt the water slap them around. As much as he wanted to keep Chris with him, he wasn’t stronger than the water. Eventually Buck felt Chris get torn away from him. Debris the tsunami picked up hurtled toward him. He could feel little nicks appear on his arms and legs.
When he finally broke through the surface, he spotted Chris clinging to a pole twenty feet in front of him. Carefully he angled his body so the water would take him to Chris. When he got close enough he leaped and wrapped his arms around Chris. With the same intensity, Chris clung to Buck tightly. It was nice to have proof that Chris was safe. After hearing the little guy cry out for him and Eddie, he wasn’t letting Chris go anytime soon.
For a while the duo was at the mercy of the water, but when Buck spotted a half submerged fire truck, he used his reserved energy to swim towards it. Once there, he lifted Chris onto it and then lifted himself onto it. The whole act hurt his leg, but Buck didn’t voice his pain. Quietly he breathed a sigh of relief. The open air stung his fresh cuts and his soaked clothes clung to him uncomfortably. Chris climbed into his lap and rested his head on Buck’s chest.
“Bucky, where’s my dad?”
Buck sighed, not wanted or knowing how to answer this question. “It appears that we got separated when the wave hit, but that can’t be permanent right buddy? When the water recedes we’ll go search for him okay?” Silently Chris nodded. Buck carded his hand through his curls and let his head gently hit against the truck. He breathed deeply once before getting into action.
“Hey superman, can I give you a quick check-up? I wanna make sure you aren’t too injured.” Chris nodded and Buck went about a modified version of the paramedic check up. (He’s been around Hen and Chimney to know it by heart. He also is a certified EMT.)
“You’re all healthy, kid, just a few cuts but that’s okay. Pretty amazing, I need to know your secrets.” Buck poked Chris’s cheek to make him giggle. He succeeded.
“I had you. You saved me.”
---
Somewhere along the way Eddie got separated. In the water he tried to reach for Chris or Buck, but his hand kept getting smacked by debriefs. He did it enough times that he was sure his wrist was sprained.
When he finally broke free from the waves he couldn’t tell where he was. There were string lights hanging above him and a row of nondescript red buildings. Eddie let himself be dragged along with the waves while he thought of something to do. Buck and Chris weren’t beside him, making him officially alone. He hoped they were still together, the thought of all three of them trying to survive this on their own was enough to puke.
He clutched onto his St. Christopher’s medal as he searched for someplace to grab onto.  There were inflatable toys, scraps of metal, and spare tires; but nothing safe to actually hold onto. Eddie tries to groan in frustration, but he ends up swallowing a mouthful of water instead.
After another half-hour he finally sees an awning of a restaurant. He makes his way over and lies down on the awning. He breathes in deeply and lets out a slow breath. He’s safe. He’s safe and alive and all alone. Dread tries to settle in his stomach at the thought of his son. He knows he can’t think like this, but god it’s so easy too. He can only hope that Buck is with Chris, Buck will keep Chris safe.
---
When the water finally recedes, Buck climbs down the truck. The nice lady, Mrs. Violet, hands Buck Chris before climbing down herself. “Stay safe you two. Good bye.” Chris waves goodbye and Buck gives her a megawatt smile. She’s nice company while they were stuck on the truck. Buck hopes they find their husband. He waits to make sure everyone else gets down safely too.
The winds from earlier have died down. The warmth from the midday sun beaming down on him feels nice. His clothes have dried into uncomfortable messes, but it’s fine. He gave his pink button to use a tourniquet for a man with a bloody arm.
Chris tightens his hold on Buck, shifts around to get comfortable, then goes lax in his arms. “You don’t want to be let down buddy?” Chris shakes his head. Buck hmmed in acquiescence .
As an eight year old, Chris is hesitant to let people hold him. He says he’s too old for it now. The first time it happened Eddie called Buck to drink with him. Buck agreed and listened as Eddie complained at how big his kid was getting. The fact that Chris was willing to be held right now meant that he was more scared than he appeared. It made Buck worry and want Eddie. He shouldn’t be here, Eddie needs to be here to console his kid.
Buck hiked up Chris further up his hip then started walking. He didn’t know which way he should go, just hoped wherever he went would lead him to Eddie.
---
Eddie fell asleep. He fell asleep on top of the awning waiting for something to happen. It wasn’t a great sleep, he kept seeing Christopher get torn away from him. Eddie shocked himself awake and took stock of his surroundings. The water was gone, leaving in its wake the debris it swept away. Also dead bodies. If Eddie had anything to puke up he’d be hurling.
Okay, okay, you can’t stay here. You gotta go find your kid. How… Eddie thought. Call someone? Call Buck! Or Bobby or Carla! Hope invigorated him to pull his phone out despite the fact that his wrist was definitely broken. Hope left him when he saw his completely waterlogged phone. Okay Plan A was bust on to Plan B… whatever that was.
The awning was connected to a pole that he could climb down. Best way to find his kid and his best friend was to look for them. Slowly he made his way to an edge of an awning. Then he edged himself off the edge slowly and feet first. Eddie wrapped his feet around the pole and shimmied down.
There were a few stranglers around him, similarly confused and lost. He tried asking them if they’d seen his lost kid or best friend. Unhelpfully they shook their heads no. Eddie sighed and continued walking.
----
Buck’s arms were on fire. His leg was also on fire. He’s pretty sure he was also bleeding something… not good. Holding Chris and walking around for hours in the hot sun hadn’t been kind to him. Buck was still searching for Eddie or a hospital. Finding Eddie was better than finding a hospital, but at this point he’d take either.
Technically he had found two hospitals already, but they were filled to the brink. The wait was astronomical and there was no place to sit. And there was no Eddie. He let a nurse check Chris out and give them some supplies, water and granola bars, before heading out. In hindsight he should’ve also asked for a phone to call someone but he forgot.
Chris had long since passed out in his arms. The kid's soft breaths on his necks was very reassuring. It was part of the reason Buck didn’t want to let him down. Another reason was because he wanted to physically pass Chris off to Eddie. Who is fine. He’s healthy and fit and able to carry his kid when Buck finds him. ‘Cause he will find him, Buck can’t not find him.
Chris shifting in his arm brought Buck back to the present. “Bucky? Bucky, I'm tired.”
“I know superman, you’re okay. I heard there's a new hospital a few blocks from here. They’ll be able to help us.”
“Okay Bucky. Can I have ice cream when we get there?”
“We deserve it don’t we? Still need to ask your dad though buddy.”
“Why? He’s not the boss of you?”
“This is a trick.”
---
After searching for Buck and Chris for five hours (and getting nowhere his evil mind adds) he’s starting to lose hope he can find them on his own. No one has seen a tall man in a pink button up nor a little boy in a yellow striped shirt. Eddie’s poor heart doesn’t know whether or not to implode at that. By now the sun has started setting. The winds aren’t as refreshing as they once were.
As he made his way down another debris filled street, two first responders found him. Eddie resists their attempts at checking him over for any injuries at first. He needs to find his partner and his kid, but he’s also tired. The first responders seem to pick up on this. They promise him that they’ll help him find his kid and partner if he just cooperates. This is how they cajoole him into going to a hospital. With promises of phone calls to his kid and a message passed around to the other first responders that Firefighter Eddie Diaz of the 118 is looking for his partner Evan Buckley and his son Chris Diaz.
This satisfies Eddie a great deal and he then becomes a much better patient. (He’s still grumpy and aloof, but now he’s tolerant). He’s almost fine, acquired a cut on his right arm, broke his left wrist, is dehydrated and exhausted. One of the first responders tosses him a bottle of water on the way to their destination. Eddie finds out when they arrive that it’s a VA hospital set up specifically as a halfway point for the sick and wounded.
The first responders usher him in through the door and into the hands of a nurse. They describe his injuries, and tell her about his missing family. He’d correct them but the statement doesn’t feel wrong anyways. The nurse takes him to a free cot before giving him a check up too.
The first responders hit the nail on the head with his list of injuries. Since it’s not severe he doesn’t need to be transported to the hospital right away, although it is recommended. She leaves to go get him pain meds and once again, Eddie is alone. The people in the cots beside him don’t count. Hell one’s unconscious and the other one is having an intimate looking conversion with a loved one. There are tears, Eddie looks away.
To keep himself busy Eddie makes a to do list of what he needs to do next. Find Christopher. Give him a big hug. Give Buck a big hug. Sleep. Tell people he’s okay. Buy a new phone. Buy ice cream. The last one isn’t technically an emergency but forgive him he’s in pain.
The nurse comes back with a wrap for his wrist and disinfectant and band aids. He finishes his water while she works. The nurse tells him he’s lucky his wound isn’t infected. Eddie nods, mind focused on something else.
“This is awkward, but my phone got damaged in the tsunami and I need to tell some people I’m okay. Is it alright if I borrow your phone and make some calls?”
The nurse smiles and nodds. She gets out her iphone, unlocks it and gets out the phone app. Eddie takes it gingerly and thinks of who to call first. His parents? Ha. He could call his sisters, but if they don’t know then he didn’t want to worry them. He’d call Tia Pepa but she’s probably with Abuela already so calling Abuela’s home phone is the best bet.
She’s calm if not incredibly saddened when she picks up the phone. Abuela  lets out a fast stream of spanish that’s said through tears once she realizes its him. He waits patiently for her to finish talking before reassuring her she’s fine. Eddie wants to tell her about Christopher, but he’s worried about Abuela having a heart attack so instead he promises to bring Chris over for lunch tomorrow. He then talks to Tia Pepa for a bit, but there’s not much new to say because Abuela had the phone call on speaker. She thanks god that he’s okay and that he better see her as soon as possible.
When they hang up he immediately calls Bobby. As he waits for him to pick up the phone he gives the nurse a sheepish smile and promises that this is the last call.
“Hello Bobby Nash, who is this?”
“Bobby? It’s Eddie, listen, my phone got damaged in the tsunami. Buck, Chris and I were at the pier and I can’t find them anymore Bobby.”
“Hey, hey, hey, Eddie, you need to breathe. Okay breathe.” Eddie rubs his hand over his eyes as he takes a deep breath.
“Okay Where are you right now.”
“The new VA hospital they set up.”
“Okay I know where that is. I’m going to send out a message to keep an eye out for Buck and Christopher. I’ll also ask Maddie to start calling the hospitals to see if they have Buck. We’re going to find them okay Eddie. Buck’s a fighter, we’re going to find him and Chris.”
“I know Cap it’s just-.”
“Hey Hey, this isn’t your fault, you can’t blame yourself for this. Stay there at the hospital so we know where to send Buck and Chris when we find them.”
“Yeah okay, okay, okay.”
“Okay, are you okay?”
“Umm yeah I’m fine, shallow cut and sprained wrist. I’m fine Cap, it's Buck and Chris.”
“I know that, but I worry about you too. I gotta go, they need me, but take care of yourself okay? Stay safe?”
“Yes sir.” Bobby hung up and Eddie gave the nurse back her phone.
The nurse left almost immediately to tend to other patients. Eddie took a deep breath before taking the next step. He knew someone had to have a list of patients at this hospital somewhere, he just had to figure out who. Eddie got up from his cot to start looking around.
The first few people were a bust. Lady #1 was actually a nurse who just finished tending to a patient. Man #2 was actually an off duty first responder helping out. Lady and Man #3 and #4 were family of some of the victims of the tsumai. Eddie was starting to get frustrated. He needed to find his son and partner quickly. The longer they were out there the more Eddie’s insides turned into knots.
He walked forward towards the entrance and saw a woman with a clipboard. “Hello ma’am is that a list of patients for the VA hospital?”
The woman turned toward him and smiled politely. “Yes it is. Who are you looking for?”
“My son Christopher Diaz. He’s 8 years old and about 4 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing a yellow striped shirt and khakis. I’m also looking for my partner Evan Buckley. Late twenties 6’2’’ wearing a pink button up, white shirt and some jeans. He has an identifiable birth mark on his right eyebrow that could be mistaken for a burn scar.”
The lady pursed her lips as she scanned through the papers. Eddie tried not to loom or tap his foot as he waited. When her face fell and she frowned he tried not to cry or get violent. “No, I’m sorry sir, I don’t have anyone like that listed here. They could be at another hospital, or,” the lady pointed to a nearby tent, “they could be there.”
Eddie followed his gaze to the place she was pointing at. “The, the-” black trash bags were piled in front of a stark white tent. That could mean it was only one type of place.
“I’m so sorry sir, if your family is actually there.” Eddie barely nodded at her, listlessly making his way over to the tent. Part of him wanted to believe that Buck and Christopher was at another hospital, but if they were, wouldn’t they have been found by someone. Wouldn’t Eddie have tangible proof that they were alive? Tears started streaming down Eddie’s face. His knees started to wobble as he started scanning through the list of the deceased kept just outside the doors of the tent.
---
“Eddie! Has anyone seen an Eddie Diaz?!” A loud voice echoed in the background. Eddie frowned. It sounded a lot like Buck, but he- the lady said he was-
“My name is Evan Buckley, have you seen Edmundo Diaz?” The voice was slightly softer this time. Eddie turned around and almost fell to his knees. There, bathed in the LED lights was his best friend clutching his child in his arms. Eddie sobbed and started running to them.
“Buck! Buck!”
“Eddie?” Buck wanted to run to Eddie, but walking was hard enough. He stayed where he was and let Eddie run into him. It didn’t take long. Buck quickly felt Eddie wrap his arms around both him and Christopher.
It was then in his best friend's arms that Buck finally let the weight of the day catch up to him. His knees buckled and he went boneless in Eddie’s arms. Said man took it like a champ, first he made sure he had a secure hold on Chris, then he let himself sink to the ground with Buck. The younger man rested his back on Eddie’s chest and relaxed. The uncomfortable, burning pressure on his legs and arms was finally eased. Buck made a happy little sigh and burrowed further into Eddie, just as Chris was doing in his sleep. Maybe he should’ve been embarrassed by it but he just spent over five hours slowly losing hope that he would ever find Eddie alive. It would take the fear of God to separate them.
Eddie seemed to have the same idea. The arm that wasn’t around Christopher tightened around Buck’s waist. The younger man could hear his partner murmur prayers in what he thought was spanish. Tears, of what Buck hoped was relief fell from Eddie’s face onto Buck’s shoulder.
“Oh god, oh my god, I thought- I-” Eddie rambled, finding his voice again.
“Hey, hey hey, I’m fine. Me and Chris are all right.”
Eddie made a disbelieving noise. “Okay my leg hurts like a bitch and I probably have one too many cuts, but it’s nothing life threatening.”
“You wouldn’t lie to me?”
“Not after the day I’ve had.”
“In a minute we should get you checked out.”
“Aww you can’t do it for me?” Buck shifted his head slightly to bat his eyes at Eddie.
“No, an unbiased professional should handle you,” Eddie whispered hoping the night sky would hide his blush. Buck nodded and listened to Eddie breathing.
“We’re okay, we’re okay, we’re okay,” Buck whispered, like a mantra. He brought Eddie’s hand up to rest above his heart so Eddie could feel his heart beat. “We’re okay, we’re okay, we’re okay,” Even though Buck actually did need medical help, the trio stayed like that a little while longer, basking in the fact that all three of them were lucky enough to make it out alive and to return to each other.

The small whines pulled Sam from his sleep. He grunted and rolled, having a moment of difficulty in pushing himself out of the bed. That would be the sound of the pup that he was taking care of. After bottle feeding the little thing, he couldn’t part with him. Was it smart? No. He didn’t need another thing to take care of but he didn’t have it in his heart when the pup seemed so attached to him. The quickly growing dog was bouncing by the door, tail wagging and continuing it’s small whines.
“Okay boy. I’m up. Hold on.” Sam grabbed the leash that was hanging by the door, quickly throwing on his jacket over his shirtless form, and stepped outside with the pup. The motel parking lot was quiet, residents asleep or tucked away at this time of the night. It didn’t take long for the pup to do his business, picking a spot not too far from the door. Sam was grateful for that with the ache in his leg. Giving the dog a soft praise, he led him back into the room. Without prompt, he moved over to the bed and hopped up. Sam chuckled and shook his head.
“Oh, you know better than that.” Sam moved over to the bed and tried to shoo the dog off of the mattress. A small whine came and he stretched out more. “No, no, no. You don’t get to sleep in the bed. You are going to be too big to be sharing one once you are a little older. Out of the bed pup.” The dog whined again. Sam knew that he really had to name the dog. Nothing had seemed to fit him just yet so he had stuck to a couple of generic names.
Huffing, Sam picked up the pup and settled him down into his bed. The sad eyes that looked up at him were almost enough to cause him to break. Almost. He knew how big the pup was going to end up getting so he couldn't allow himself to be too soft. Once the pup was full size, he would probably end up taking up most of the bed from what Madison had told him to expect. The little ball of fluff huffed again but ultimately settled down, causing Sam to laugh.
"I know you don't wanna be in your bed. It's for the best though pup. We'll get you a nice big bed once you are done growing," he promised the puppy before moving back to the bed himself. He would have to talk to Madison more about training and what he could do to keep the pup off of the bed. That could come tomorrow. For now, he needed some more sleep.
***** The day started off quietly, something that he was thankful for as he ended up having to get up a few more times with the pup. He made his way to the office, eager to get himself some coffee. The pup was under one arm as he entered, immediately getting an aww coming from Maggie who was sitting at the counter.
He chuckled and was happy to hand the fifteen pounds over to her.
"You say that now. It isn't so cute when he keeps you up all night."
"Oh he can't be that bad, Sam." She scratched the pup behind the ears. "Maybe he is just grumpy and annoying you because you haven't given him a name." Sam nearly rolled his eyes, knowing that wasn't why the dog was acting up but restrained himself, deciding to humor Maggie instead.
"Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason. But he knows I'm getting around to it. Still trying to figure out what's going to fit him. Gotta know what his personality is going to be before he can find a name that works with him." Maggie laughed.
"You've had nearly 10 weeks Sam." He sipped his coffee, knowing that he was in a losing argument. She was right. He had more than ample time to find what worked and chose a name for his new companion. "You know he isn't going anywhere. He is firmly attached to you." He stiffened a little when the last bit came from Maggie. Subconsciously had he been worried about that? It wasn't something he wanted to devote a lot of thought to at the moment. There were plenty of other things that needed his attention.
"You mind watching him? I gotta go replace the window in 120." Maggie shook her head.
"Not at all. Though I'm sure he would end up sticking at your side. Maybe you could even train him to grab you tools. He seems like he would be smart enough for it. I mean he already knows a few commands, sit and stay." That wasn't something he had thought about either.
"Yeah, I guess I could talk to Madison about that. Ain't a half bad idea."
"Nope. Because it's mine," she teased. Sam chuckled and shook his head.
"Yeah, yeah. You got all the brains here. Which is why you need to get to your homework," he pointed out, a smile now on his face. The pup was content in her arms, yawning even though he had just gotten up. "And it seems like he might be too lazy for that sort of thing. He just got up and he's ready for a nap."
"Don't listen to him. I'm sure you will be a fantastic helper." Sam chuckled again before heading out to get to work on replacing the window. The pup was in trusted hands for now.
He was half way through getting the window installed when Maggie came out to him. The pup was with her, trotting alongside her but his ears were pinned back. Something was wrong. He brushed his hands against his jeans and turned to give her his full attention.
"What's wrong?"
"There's a guy giving me a hard time. Doesn't want to give the deposit up front. You mind coming and talking to him?" Sam nodded, setting down his tools. He may not have liked confrontation but he wasn't going to let anyone give Maggie a hard time.
"Yeah, yeah. Of course. Come on." He motioned for her to follow as he moved back towards the office. The pup stayed right between them, trotting along.
The man was still standing at the counter and he looked displeased. Sam sighed softly before making his way behind it, Maggie behind him and out of the line of fire for now. Just how he wanted it really.
"What seems to be the problem sir?" The pup sat at the door as if to guard it. Sam glanced at him for a moment before turning his attention back to the customer.
"You need some better help at the front desk. This one was asking for a deposit ahead of time, in a place like this." Sam bit the inside of his cheek to be able to keep his composure.
"Sir, that is the policy for any guest. You'll find most motels and hotels in this area request a deposit up front, especially if you are looking to stay two weeks." The man just seemed to grow more agitated.
"You have to be kidding me."
"You don't have to stay. You are more than welcome to find some other place to rent for however long you need. We don't need your business if that's how you are gonna act," Sam told the man, firmly without being nasty. It was the truth. He wasn't going to find many other places to stay but he wasn't going to fight with the man either. It was going to go down how he wanted, not the jerk standing in front of him.
"Whatever. I'll just take my business elsewhere then." The man moved to the door, picking up the pup to move him. Sam immediately tensed. The pup actually growled before throwing his head around, smacking the man hard in the nose. "Fuck!" It wasn't enough to break it but that had to hurt, judging by the watering eyes. Sam immediately strode forward and took the pup from the man.
"Don't touch my dog again," he warned, seeing the look on the man's face. "Now leave." The pup was still disgruntled in his arms but at least was calming down now. The man didn't say another word as he stormed out of the office and headed for his car. Sam looked down at the pup and found himself smiling.
"Well, I think we found a proper name for him." Maggie moved over to check on him to make sure he was okay.
"And what's that?" She asked as she reached out to pet the puppy's head.
"Slinger." Maggie cocked her head to the side.
"What's that mean?" She had a feeling there was something behind it.
"It's what a bull was called who bucked his head and tried to smash a rider with it or his horns." Maggie laughed and Sam couldn’t keep the smile off of his face.
"I guess that fits after that little display. What do you think, Slinger?" The puppy barked, his tail going even as Sam held him. "I think he likes it."
"It's settled then. His name is officially Slinger." He scratched Slinger behind the ear and found himself smiling despite the confrontation that they just had. It seemed like Slinger was really there to stay now that he had his name and Sam found himself not minding at all.

SUMMARY: When Maddie organizes a game night for the firefam and their partners, things between Buck and Eddie change quickly. Nothing a hot shower can't resolve.
FANDOM: 9-1-1 (TV)
RELATIONSHIP: Evan Buckley / Eddie Diaz
WORDS: 3.6k.
First attempt at writing after years, well.... look at what the homosexuals have done to me! [READ ON AO3]
Full story under the cut.
That kiss was a joke, right? Buck could not explain it, but he has never felt that way in a long time. He kept thinking about that kiss with Eddie.
It was an “adult” game night at the 118, and of course, everyone invited their partners: Chimney brought Maddie, Bobby brought Athena, who wasn’t that convinced about that whole thing but agreed after knowing there would have been wine to make things more tolerable, and Hen brought Karen. The only ones left were Buck and Eddie, who were paired together just for the game, making Maddie laugh for almost fifteen minutes at her brother’s expression. They were not a couple, but it was just a night between friends – however, it was strange being the only couple who was not actually a couple at the table. The game became more intense when Maddie, playing truth or dare, dared every couple to kiss for a minute. Hen and Karen did it without hesitation, and after them it was the turn of Bobby and Athena, helped by a glass of good red wine.
“Your turn, Buck,” Maddie said just after having kissed Chimney, smiling as she stared at Buck and Eddie, both red in their faces. Buck was trying to kill her with his look.
“I’m not gonna kiss Eddie for a whole minute. No way.” He protested, still sitting at the table but wanting to disappear from Earth as Eddie, beside him, became more and more silent. Both just wanted to skip that turn, but at the same time they both knew no one there would ever let them do it.
“You have to do it, Buck. It’s the game.” Chimney supported Maddie as always, and just like that he was on Buck’s blacklist too. They were never gonna get invited to anything again.
“It’s not fair, you’re all together. We are not a couple.” Buck kept fighting against the rules and against his own new family, while Eddie was trying not to explode from embarrassment in front of everyone.
“It’s only a game, you don’t have to get married after this!” Hen laughed, followed by Athena and Karen, both drunker than what they would have ever admitted. It was their way to tolerate all of that: wine made things easier, even for Eddie. As a matter of fact, it was Eddie who started it: he chugged down a glass of wine in a few seconds before taking Buck’s head in his hands, whispering a stressed “fuck” as he turned the friend towards him and kissed him. One minute, it was only one minute.
The most intense silence fell in the room: Maddie and Chimney smiled, Athena almost choked herself with an olive as Bobby looked away, while Hen and Karen stared at both of them, interested and entertained. It was the most entertaining thing of the night, after all.
Sure, it was only one minute, but many things can happen in one minute. Eddie closed his eyes just before kissing Buck, who almost stood up and ran away, but it took only a few moments to get used to Eddie’s lips over his mouth. After ten seconds, Buck relaxed his muscles. After thirty seconds, he lifted his arms to put his hand over Eddie’s shoulders. After fifty seconds he was so into that kiss that he almost opened his mouth to get his tongue out.
“One minute!” Interrupted Chimney, with some complaints coming from both Athena and Hen.
“See? It wasn’t that difficult. Good job, brother.” Maddie was kind of involved with all of that, she just waited for the right moment to pull off that card to make everyone kiss, especially his brother and Eddie. She found so frustrating seeing them so close yet so far, every single day. Yes, that game night was just an excuse to bring those two together and with the expert help of Chimney, it finally happened. And it was even better than they thought it would be. Buck was red as the firetruck, Eddie was so quiet as if he weren’t really there.
“I have to go.” Buck did not add anything else, he just walked away from the table and called sick for a few days the next morning.
After an entire week had passed, Buck’s mind is still stuck on that kiss, on the feeling of Eddie’s lips over his and how he almost tried to get out his tongue to make that kiss more carnal. What the hell was I thinking? is quite literally the only thought inside Buck’s mind every time he thinks about Eddie, and everything reminds him of that kiss since everything, apparently, reminds him of Eddie Diaz, the hot firefighter who started as an enemy – a rivalry who lasted less than a day.
After just one kiss, Edmundo Diaz was the only thing Evan Buckley was able to think about.
Eddie’s situation is not much better after all: he realized he had kissed Evan with so much passion only a few days later, and he can only think about Buck too.
Buck returned to work after those so-called “sick” days, completely ignoring Eddie and every question about him, even though they had to work together. It was much easier doing that than acknowledge what he had felt during that kiss and what he was still feeling at that moment, just thinking about it.
Having to work with the person you are trying to avoid does not make things easy, and Buck was about to realize it as he went in the showers of the 118. Most of his coworkers have already gone away, but not one in particular, not the one Buck is trying so hard to ignore: Eddie.
“Good job today,” says Eddie, trying to be kind and putting everything in the past like nothing ever happened between the two of them. But he can’t resist. “Listen, Buck, about that—”
“Shut up. I don’t want to talk about it.” Buck shushes him without even raising his eyes. He gets undressed, hops in the shower without saying anything more but his silence does not last that long. “Why did you grab my head to kiss me? They were about to give up and move on. But you kissed me.” now Buck is really looking at Eddie, into his eyes, as if it was an interrogation.
“It was a game. A joke.” Lies. As much as Buck, Eddie knows it wasn’t only a joke: there was something else, something deeper and more powerful. “We’re still friends, right?” he keeps on lying.
“Yeah, right.” a cutting answer leaves Buck’s mouth. Despite his attempts at ignoring him, his eyes keep glaring at Eddie’s body as the water runs down Eddie’s muscular body. Both of them become quiet, but at the same time, they are thinking about the other: especially here, naked, in the shower, with the hands that reach their penis, imagining their “friend” doing the same.
Buck had enough of that: he steps out of his shower only to reach Eddie’s spot, opening the opaque shower door and whispering “My turn” before going in, grabbing Eddie’s face just in the same way as the man did it at game night, kissing him again. Eddie, surprising even himself, kisses back almost immediately, arching his back but staying away from Buck’s wet naked body.
“What did that mean, Buck?” asks Eddie, after the other stopped the kiss. Buck was standing right in front of him, embarrassed – What the fuck did I do? We’re naked! – but knowing that his heart was in the right place and that Eddie owned it.
“I— I don’t know! I can’t stop thinking about that kiss! It was a joke, right? Why did you kiss me? Why everyone wanted us to kiss?”
“It wasn’t a joke, Buck.” Eddie lets out a long sigh, looking at Buck blurting words out without thinking. “It was a kiss, I think your sister made the whole game night up just for that. I have no actual evidence, but I’m pretty sure of that.” he laughs, and Buck immediately calms down a little.
“You think so?” Maddie was behind all of that? Impossible.
“Yeah. But you kissed me again after avoiding me for an entire week. Why?” not that Eddie did not like it, he actually liked it even more than the kiss during the game. Buck is direct, passionate, his kisses make Eddie euphoric, and now he wants to know the reason behind that second kiss.
“I wanted to. I kept thinking about you, your kiss, your lips… and I couldn’t resist any longer.”  letting all of that out is like lifting a weight off his chest, he finally admitted his feelings, but he could not even think about other words to say because Eddie pulled him over to kiss him again. This time, however, he doesn’t stay away from Evan’s body, instead, he just pushes himself over Buck.
“We’re in the showers,” Buck says, gasping for air as he puts his hands on Eddie’s hips.
“I know. But there is basically no one at the 118 right now. Be quiet.” And Buck doesn’t question it.
They kiss again, their bodies rubbing one against the other as their tongues were finally together. Buck turns off the water as he pushes Eddie against the wall, rushing to get a hand inside his hair. He cannot believe they are doing that inside the fire station, but it feels so good he cannot stop at just one kiss.
“Fuck me,” Buck whispers at Eddie’s ear just before biting his earlobe, making Eddie jump and shiver with excitement. Their first time together and they are in a shower, not that romantic and not at all as Eddie had imagined – because yes, he had already thought of that, a million possibilities of having sex with Buck, but the showers of the fire station were never part of his dreams.
“Not so fast.” Eddie laughs, bringing one hand around Buck’s dick to massage it and to feel it growing inside his fingers. Hearing Buck moaning is delightful, and it is even better than everything his mind has ever produced. From his explicit request, Buck melts as soon as Eddie grabs his dick to turn him on: in a span of few seconds, Buck is craving Eddie’s hand and tongue, even his teeth on his body. He wants everything Eddie can give him, and the other is more than happy to please him in every way he can.
Buck is so eager to be fucked that he takes Eddie’s hand over his ass, but Eddie takes things slower: he grabs Buck’s left cheek before switching position and pushing him against the wall, with his back towards him so he can take a look at the ass he’s about to fuck. “Such a pretty view.”
“It’s all yours.” Buck moans, pushing up his ass and searching for Eddie’s cock, which is now stiff and hard just as Buck’s dick. Eddie doesn’t know whether or not Buck has been fucked before, but he doesn’t want to waste time asking that: instead, he gets on his knees in front of his ass and spreads Buck’s cheeks apart to see his hole. Without hesitating he gets his tongue right in the middle, rubbing the tip over his tight opening: it was clear that Buck was never the slutty bottom he was in that moment with him. And he likes that. Buck shivers and moans again, closing his eyes and even his mouth when Eddie interrupts the rimming only to shush him: after all, they are still in a public place, sort of.
Eddie nudges with his tongue inside Buck, just to try things out, and the muffled moan that leaves Buck’s mouth makes him smile. He is doing the right thing and, most importantly, he has not lost his touch after all those years without another body between his hands. After playfully biting his left cheek, Eddie stands up and gets closer to Buck’s body: his hard cock pressed against Buck’s ass, which is almost begging to get pounded at this time. Buck’s eyes confirm that feeling, but he is not ready yet.
“Get on your knees.” Eddie insists and Buck, moaning a complaint, obeys once again. Seeing Eddie’s shaft right in front of his eyes is something else: a long and slightly curved cock, with a red tip and throbbing veins that tempt him. Instinctively, Buck gets his hand around it, looking up at Eddie to have some kind of confirmation, and after a simple look, he starts jerking him off. It is not the first time for Buck to jerk a cock different than the one he has between his legs, but it is the first time with Eddie, and this first time is quite special. Buck licks his lips, preparing his mouth as he gets closer and closer to Eddie.
When Eddie feels Buck’s tongue around his head, he squints his eyes, holding out his arm to get the hand against the wall. He smiles happily and breathes heavily, encouraging Buck as he passes the other hand through his hair.
“You’re not just good at kissing, apparently…” Eddie pushes his hips forward, forcing Buck to take all his length in his mouth. Not easy, but he manages to take it. Buck keeps licking and sucking, swirling his tongue around Eddie’s dick, and lifting his arm to get his hand over Eddie’s pecs. He grabs it, pinching his nipple as he blows him.
“Some more… Get that tongue around it.” Now the only thing Buck can think about is Eddie’s pleasure and the taste of his precum that goes down his throat. Oh, how much he missed that.
Eddie must stop himself from moaning and from thrusting his erection inside Buck’s mouth. Fortunately, it is Buck himself that brings new rhythm to that blowjob, going faster and faster as his saliva drips down from his chin.
“Stop. Stop— Fuck.” Eddie pulls away from Buck’s mouth, who stays right there with his lips open and his tongue out, inviting Eddie to give him his cock again.
“I want more.” Please, he adds in his head.
“You’re so eager.” Eddie laughs, but he nods. Grabbing the base of his cock he rubs his entire length over Buck’s face, slapping his cheeks and then his mouth with it. “Like that?”
“Yes.” Buck keeps trying to catch it with his mouth, but Eddie does not give him any chance. But they are in the shower without any lube or protection, so Buck’s saliva is the best thing he’ll ever get. Eddie grabs firmly Buck’s hair to hold his head and shoves his cock inside his mouth up until the base. His testicles rubbing Buck’s chin.
Eddie keeps a hand over his own mouth to keep himself quiet, he is finally minutes away from fucking Evan and he won’t allow anyone to walk in on them at that moment. “Fuck. Stand up. Now.”
As soon as Buck stands up, Eddie kisses him again to feel his own taste mixed with the other’s saliva.
“Turn around.” Buck was waiting just for that. He presses his face against the wall, spreads his legs, and pushes his hips out. With the help of his hands, then, he spreads his cheeks to show off his pink and almost untouched hole.
With a hand over Buck’s mouth, Eddie rubs his cock between the cheeks, spitting on it himself to get more lube as possible. It was not going to be easy, but he knows Buck can take it.
“Ready?” he pushes the tip against his hole without putting it in.
“Mh–mh.” Buck nods, rubbing his ass over Eddie’s erection. It is bigger than Buck expected, but after all, if he took it all inside his mouth, why wouldn’t he be able to take it up his ass? He is ready.
Slowly, Eddie’s cock slides inside. Buck’s muscles contract around the head even if he knows he has to relax them, but the last time he had a real cock inside him was such a long ago. Eddie makes sure that he is not hurting him, but he carefully keeps going watching every move Buck makes. He is tight, warm, and perfect. After a while, Eddie’s cock is all inside him and Buck can feel Eddie’s testicles against his ass. Both moan simultaneously, Eddie leans over Buck to kiss his shoulder.
“Don’t worry. I’m gonna go slow.”
“Don’t—” Buck takes away Eddie’s hand to talk. “Fuck me for real.” Eddie is not surprised; Buck always wants everything immediately. This time, however, Eddie was not going to roll his eyes and complain: Buck will get what he asks.
He starts with small thrusts to get Buck’s hole used to his cock, but as soon as he feels that there isn’t much resistance from Buck and especially after he sees pleasure taking over Buck’s face, he knows he can start fucking him just as his man asked.
The thrusts get faster and heavier, his hips smash against Buck’s cheeks as both of them try not to moan and scream for pleasure. After all, none of them had sex in a long time. Buck takes his arms back to grabs Eddie to pull him over him so he can kiss him: it is his way to shut himself up, or else he is gonna scream.
Eddie follows him happily, kissing him as he keeps moving in and out of him, feeling his muscles squeezing his cock. He is not gonna last very long as he wants, but he does not care. Having Buck all for himself feels amazing, he finally knows how his hole feels like, how he moans, how his eyes look when he is being fucked: so many questions now finally have an answer.
“Please…” Buck moans as his hand reaches for his erection, stroking himself with the help of Eddie’s thrusts. Eddie cannot hear him begging like this and not pounding him harder: his hands tightly grab Buck’s shoulder, pushing his cock inside his hole that is now used to being spread apart. Buck cannot help but moan harder and harder, and Eddie has to put a hand over his mouth once again: they cannot be seen like this, not when he’s close to breed him.
Buck’s moans die against Eddie’s fingers, that the man starts inserting into his mouth to make him suck them. It feels amazing how Buck’s muscles surround his throbbing dick, and the orgasm gets closer with each thrust.
“I’m gonna fill you up…” Eddie whispers at Buck’s ear, which quivers at the idea, but has something else in mind.
“No. I want to taste you.” With a smirk on his face, Buck turns his head behind as much as he can to make eye contact with his friend, even though it seems strange to call Eddie like that while his dick is hitting his prostate.
“As you wish.” Eddie can feel his pleasure rise each second; his dick is begging him to let the cum fill up Buck’s hole, but he wants to please his colleague. After that, he pulls out. “Get on your knees, fast!” as he jerks off to keep the orgasm coming. Buck obeys and gets his face right under Eddie’s dick, keeping his eyes up so the other man can see how much he loves all of that.
Eddie’s loads hit Buck’s face fast: they are warm, white, and most importantly there is so much cum coming out of that cock that Buck is not sure he could have kept it in his mouth. The first loads hit even Buck’s hair, but when Eddie has finally finished, Buck’s face is covered in cum he keeps licking his lips to catch what he can to taste his load. Eddie stands in front of him, amazed at what Buck can become during sex, but he doesn’t stay frozen, instead, he grabs the base of his cock and uses it to push his own load towards Buck’s mouth, cleaning his face at the same time.
“Fuck, you really like that…” and he likes it too. Eddie gets on his knees too to kiss Buck’s face and lips, tasting his own load from his skin as he gets one hand over Buck’s cock to jerk him off and help him finish.
“Eddie…” Buck moans, shoving his dirty face into Eddie’s shoulders as the man massages his throbbing cock. It doesn’t take long anyway, after less than a minute Buck shoots his thick load that hits Eddie’s body and then the rest slides down Eddie’s hand. Without any hesitation, when Buck has finished Eddie lifts his hand to lick it clean in front of Buck who watches the scene, speechless.
“You taste good,” Eddie says, before kissing him and pushing him against the wall again, even if they are now sitting on the shower floor, he does not want to stop kissing him. Eddie has waited for too long for that, he doesn’t want to waste any minute or any second away from Buck’s perfect body.
“Next time you’ll top.” It is just a whisper that leaves Eddie’s mouth, but Buck is already smiling at the idea: one of his hand reaches Eddie’s ass to grab his cheek, but Eddie immediately slaps his hand. “I said next time. Now, you’re mine.”
What started as a game night evolved in some rough, enticing and heated sex between two so-called ‘friends’ that now are probably more than just that. It is with a soft kiss, especially compared to everything they have done until that moment, that Eddie stands up and gets Buck to stand up as well. A new shower starts, but this time they are in the same spot, helping the other with soap and of course teasing each other. After all, it was only the first of many showers together.

Smile For Me (Beastars)
I was introduced to the anime Beastars last weekend and immediately fell in love with it. I watched all of it twice in one week, and then I HAD to write this cute scene! This fic takes place during the hotel scene from Episodes 11-12, but there are no spoilers, so fear not! I hope you enjoy! ^^
Fandom: Beastars
Shipping: Legoshi x Haru
~
“Hey, cheer up,” Haru said, playfully tackling Legoshi onto the mattress. He toppled with a grunt, curling up on himself a little. “You really should learn how to smile sometimes.”
“I, uh…” the gray wolf murmured. “It’s okay. I’m all right.”
Haru couldn’t help but let her eyes drift to his back, to the many scars he had there. She frowned a little, wondering again where they’d come from. Legoshi said it had all started when he met her, but never actually explained where these gashes had come from. Or…who they had come from. She shook her head. No time to think about that now.
“Seriously, you’re way too solemn,” she said, scooting closer to him. His uniform hung from her like a sheet, it was so big, but she could still move around in it with relative ease. She poked his side. “Cheer up, Legoshi.”
He jerked, rolling onto his back, pushing her away in the process. “Oh! Sorry. I just, uh…you kind of…startled me.”
Haru tilted her head at him. Then she grinned. She wasn’t stupid. “Did I? I didn’t mean to,” she replied, wasting no time in digging her tiny hands into his lower ribs. “I was just trying to make you smile for me.”
Legoshi’s whole body reacted, tensing up rather than pulling away. She was half on top of him now, reaching over to get both sets of ribs at once, and though he wanted to squirm out of the way, his desire not to hurt her was stronger.
“H-Hey!” he stammered, cheeks turning pink as an actual giggle was pulled from his lips. “Haru, don’t—”
“Aw, you’re ticklish! That’s so cute,” the rabbit teased as though she hadn’t heard his protest. She hopped up onto his stomach, unable to do much more than just sit there, but knowing he wouldn’t buck her off no matter how much he wanted to; his protective instincts were too strong.
Legoshi’s mind went blank for a few long seconds. She was sitting on him. She was sitting on him. She wasn’t heavy at all; he could barely feel her there, if he was honest. Pushing her off would be no problem. But he didn’t want to hurt her, or scare her. What was he supposed to do now? The only solution he came up with was to just lay there and let her tickle him.
Several more giggles spilled from him. “H-Haru, I…w-what are you doing?”
“What does it look like?” she shot back, smiling. “Or, more accurately, what does it feel like?” Her fingers slid to his upper ribs, and again his body reacted. His first instinct was to jerk his arms down and push her away, but once again he conquered that thought with the desire not to hurt her, and so he kept his arms where they were.
“Please, Haru,” he breathed, giggling, “I-I’m really ticklish. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“You won’t hurt me,” she replied, scooting forward so she sat on his chest, fingers playing with the fur in his underarms. His giggling rose in pitch, bordering on laughter. She could see him physically fighting his own instincts to push her away, if his arms jerking up and down were any indication. Finally he settled for clenching his fists and giggling steadily, squeezing his eyes shut, cheeks pink. Haru smiled at him. “There’s that smile I was looking for.”
“Please,” he begged between giggles, “please, stop, I…I d-don’t know how long I can fight against my instincts.”
“But you’re so happy now.” The rabbit kept up her gentle assault. “You deserve to be happy, especially after what you did today.”
All in a rush, Legoshi’s self-preservation instincts kicked into overdrive and he finally shot his arms down, grabbing onto Haru and rolling over all in one swift motion. She let out a yelp of surprise. The next thing either of them knew, he was looming over her again, their eyes locked. It didn’t take long for him to realize what he’d done, and remember how her rabbit instincts had kicked in the last time he had her this way.
“Ah! I-I-I’m sorry, I…whoa!” Legoshi lunged away from her so hard and fast that he fell off the bed entirely, crashing to the floor.
“Legoshi!” Haru scrambled to the side and looked down at him. “Are you all right?”
“Y-Yeah! I’m fine. Um.” He pushed himself up to a sitting position, saw her looking at him with concern, and blushed again. “Let’s just…go to sleep now. Okay?”
Haru nodded. “Yeah, okay.” She patted the bed. “Come on. Lay next to me.”
Slowly, Legoshi did as he was told and climbed onto the right side of the bed, curling up so he could fit on it better and facing away from Haru. After several long, tense moments, she lay beside him and placed a hand on his back, patting him gently. He let out a contented sigh, closing his eyes. She’s warm. I’m so glad she’s still warm.

It’s that time of the season where the common cold makes it way back into civilization. Some people get it, and some don’t, and it’s usually the people who don’t think they’re going to get it. You’re one of those people. You haven’t done anything to warrant otherwise, but the cold found you through the sea of people. What’s worse is that you’re a shapeshifter and have been stuck in your wolf form for a while now. Sam and Dean think you’re stuck, but you like this version of yourself a lot better than the human version.
There’s just something so satisfying about being a dog. You have no responsibilities, you can run around in mud all day, you get to eat whatever you can fit into your mouth, and no one questions you when you do anything. You like being human when Sam and Dean are on a case because you get to help them out a lot better than if you were a wolf. There are certain things you can do as a human, and certain things you can do as a wolf.
You can’t have both.
When you turned back into your wolf form, you didn't know you had already contracted the common cold. You could go to the veterinarian, but you’d much rather go to a human doctor. They know what they’re doing more than veterinarians. If you’re in pain, then you might switch from a wolf to a human in front of the doctor. As a human, you know you can take the pain. If you’d known you’d be sick, then you might have stayed in your human form just a little while longer. After years of going through this, you know it’s better to be sick as a human than as an animal. You can’t communicate properly about what you need and how you’re feeling if you’re a dog.
You’d switch back, but it’s a very painful process.
Most people think shapeshifting is an easy thing to do when really, it’s full of pain and agony. Your bones shift to fit the animal or human you’re trying to imitate. Your nervous system has to be rewired in order to accommodate the thing you’re turning into. It’s why you like to stay in your wolf form whenever you’re at home. You’ve been shifting since you could walk, so the pain isn’t that bad, but it’s not like it’s a walk in the park either.
Sam and Dean are home right now since there is no case to handle. You’re very sick, but you know you’d feel a little bit better if you’re in the arms of one of the brothers. Dean is working on his car since you can smell the oil. Even with your congested nose, you can still smell the potent oil. Sam is reading in the library while sitting on the chair you got at a swap meet for only 20 bucks. It’s big and comfy, but it’s also full of dust. You tried getting as much dust out of it as possible, but there is still a lingering smell.
You walk into the library with your ears bent and your tail between your legs. You’re a small dog for a wolf but bigger than the average pet. Sam looks up from his book when he hears your nails tapping against the wood floors.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asks when you get to his feet.
You look up and whimper at him with the biggest puppy dog eyes you know you can do. You howl softly and sneeze, looking down once more.
“Are you sick?” he asks, and you nod your head.
You’ve learned to understand human language whenever you’re taking on the form of an animal. It was hard to get used to, but you’re a pro at it now.
“Why don’t you shift back into a human and take some medicine?”
You tip your head back and howl as if you’re telling him, “fuck you, no, I’m not going to do that”. He knows how much it hurts you to shift, so he can only imagine what the pain would be like if you’re not feeling well.
“Are you hungry? I can get you something light to eat. How does chicken sound? I know we still have some.”
All you can do is nod, and he gets up to cook you the meat. Humans wouldn’t eat chicken if they aren’t feeling well, but since you’re a dog, the meat is good for your stomach. Dogs and humans have different digestive systems when it comes to being sick and what they can and can’t eat. It doesn’t take Sam long to cook the chicken, and soon he’s sitting back in his chair. He’s about to lay the plate on the floor when you hop onto his lap. He chuckles and makes enough room so that it’s comfortable for both of you.
“Want me to feed you?” he asks.
He does so without your response since he knows how much you like it. Even as a human, you like it when people feed you (especially Sam). He takes a big piece of chicken and holds it out for you, and you snatch it up. The chicken is at the right temperature, so it doesn’t burn your mouth, and you quickly swallow it. You eat everything on the plate in less than five minutes. It would have taken you one or two, but you wanted to take your time with this.
As soon as Sam moves the plate out of the way, you rest your head on his chest and close your eyes. You’re very tired and worn out, and he allows you to use him as a pillow. He smells so good and feels so comfy that you don’t want to move. He reaches up and pets your head while reading his book with one hand. He scratches your head lightly with his fingernails, and it’s enough o put you into a light sleep.
Dean comes in while wiping the oil that’s on his hands off on a towel and sees you and Sam together. He knows his brother has had a crush on you for the past few years, and he’s never done anything about it. He knows about your crush on his brother too, and he’s going to do something about it soon if you two don’t.
“What’s going on?” he asks and nods to you.
“She’s sick, and so I made her some chicken to eat.”
“You tell her how you feel yet?”
“No, Dean, and I don’t think I’m going to.”
“Why not? She’s the perfect woman for you. Why are you so afraid?”
“Can we not talk about this right now? She’s right here.”
“She’s asleep. I can hear her snores even from where I’m standing. What are you afraid of?”
“I’m not,” Sam mumbles.
“Bullshit.”
“Would you just drop it?”
“How can I when I always see you two eye-fucking each other whenever either of you looks away. You know she won’t turn you down.”
“I know. I guess that’s what I’m afraid of. She deserves someone better than me.”
“You are the only one who is good for her. We’ve known her for, what, ten years? I’ve never seen two people get along so well like the two of you.”
“How can I be sure I’d give her what she needs? What she wants? She... I mean--she’s... she’s sweet, and she’s beautiful, and she’s just kinda sorta perfect. What can I offer her?”
“That’s a question you have to answer. Ask her out before someone else does. She won’t wait for you forever,” Dean says and leaves the room.
Sam knows you’ll eventually give up waiting for him and look for someone else. He knows he should have asked you out years ago, but he’s too afraid that you won’t ever be satisfied with him. He can’t give you everything you deserve, and he doesn’t know how you feel about that. If you happened to reject him, he won’t ever come back from that. It’ll ruin what you two have now. But, then again, if you accept him for who he is, then he could have years filled with love and happiness with the woman he loves.
The reason you went to Sam is that he makes you feel safe. There is no one in the entire world you’d rather spend your life with than the man whose arms you’re in. He may not be able to give you everything you want, but he definitely gives you everything you need.

Tumblr media
Sleeping was more penance than relief as he couldn’t close his eyes without being constantly haunted, tortured, reminded by how much his teammates, his family hated him, haunted by the sound of their laughs, by the impact of their insults, by the venom of their remarks.
He couldn’t help it, couldn’t stop tormenting himself, couldn’t prevent his mind to play his days, all the overheard conversations, and not so discreet whispers on loop in his head, he couldn’t help but remember their faces, their snarls every time he entered a room, he couldn’t help but hear their voices… his voices, as he was told over and over again that he wasn’t needed, wanted, that it was too bad the ladder truck hadn’t crushed his whole body…
He prayed for a dreamless night, he prayed his mind to stop the self-persecution, to stop thinking about them, as they never did think about him. He wished he was bold enough to down the six pack in his fridge, the one who was calling his name every day, so that he could pass out, so that he could finally and peacefully rest but like all his nights since the lawsuit Buck found himself once again starring at his computer screen, thinking about what he would say to TK and how he could help the equally tormented Texan firefighter.
Tumblr media
He remembered TK’s last answer, remembered how he could feel his distress, how he felt the same, he remembered how they chatted until dawn about wither they should keep fighting, should keep proving their worth, their right to be among their brothers or if they should just give up as fighting was making more miserable, he couldn’t forget the last words they exchanged that night.
From TK: My mother used to tell me that even if we’re blood related my father would never love me as much as he loves his firefighters family and that what made me want to be part of it, I wanted to be seen and loved too, I fought and for a brief time I had it, my dad love and attention, I was so happy, I felt whole until I realized that he loved firefighter TK, he only saw me when I was part of the team, outside of it I was nothing.
From Buck: I didn’t have anything outside the 118, when I got the job I was the happiest in the world, for the first time I knew what it felt to be loved, to be appreciated, my parents weren’t that great and Maddie was gone, I had no one, I just had them, after the truck incident I fought, I trained to be back with them cause I missed them but they replaced me, they taped her name over mine and they treated her even better than me and to make things worse I learned that it wasn’t the Head that didn’t want me back, it was Bobby, it felt as if maybe I wasn’t good enough for him, for them, I mean they’re all I have….
From TK: They meant more for you than what you mean for them and that what hurt the most, that why you have to move on and let them go, you can’t keep feeling miserable for people who don’t deserve you Evan.
From Buck: I know, I’m still foolishly hopping though.
TK wasn’t online that night, he didn’t have anyone to turn to, to talk to, he couldn’t bother Maddie, and even though Hen told him she was there, he couldn’t help but let the little voice convince him that she only said that to be kind, she didn’t meant it, she wasn’t expecting him to call her, confide in her, she wasn’t actually there, no one was.

Sleepless nights were becoming more and more common for him, his body grew accustomed to the lack of rest, his mind not so much, the voices were increasingly present, allowing himself to become more and more apprehensive and stressed at the sole thought of going to work the next day, what once was his home, his safe heaven, quickly became his personal hell.
Tumblr media
He was changing himself quietly when Bobby and the rest of their team cornered him, they barely let him button his pant before barging into the locker room, all wearing their signature ‘‘we hate you’’ glare, he quickly rose himself waiting for Bobby to tell him that it was it, he was thanked, fired that they didn’t want him in this family anymore.
-So I had an interesting conversation with the Heads today, he started making Buck gulp in fear, apparently I can’t have one of my guys on light duties for more than two months, he waved dismissively, so, he sighed, as of today you’re officially back on call, he announced looking at him expectantly.
-Thank you I guess, Buck articulated not meeting his eyes, I…I won’t let you down, let any of you down, he croaked still fixing his shoes.
-I hope so Buckley, the older man retorted before turning back and leaving the room.
He waited until the footsteps vanished to let out the breath he was holding, he then let himself fall on the bench behind him not once acknowledging the fact that someone stayed behind, it wasn’t until he hear Eddie clear his throat that he gave him his attention.
-Listen Eddie, he began but a single look from his teammate made him flinch and quiet down.
-You might be reinstated, Eddie roared getting up from his place, you might be back on the team, back on call, he enumerated walking toward him, but you’ll never be a part of this family again, he sneered fist clenched at his side, so don’t try, he huffed, don’t try to mend things, don’t try talking with us from now on we’re only colleagues Buckley, he deadpanned leaving the locker room.
And just like that everything went silent, he could only hear the sound of his shattering heart, the wail of his broken soul, the realization hitting him like a truck, it was meaningless, there were nothing holding him back, nothing to keep him fighting, nothing and no one worth fighting for, everything was silent and even if the siren were getting louder, even though Hen kept on calling his name he couldn’t move the violence of his heartbreak, of his grief nailed him to the ground.
Tumblr media
He could handle light duties, could handle the glares, the critics, the insults and even the bullying sometimes, he could handle being isolated, handle eating alone and hiding in his car to shed the tears he held up all day, what he couldn’t handle, couldn’t support, couldn’t accept was his teammates lacks of professionalism, he couldn’t handle the fact that they couldn’t let go of the grudges they held against him during calls.
He was only doing his job, only asking the routines questions when Bobby decided it was the right times to belittle him in front of his team and the victims, making him pass for the dumb blond he wasn’t, making him regret the day he started to think of him as his hero, his model.
Tumblr media
He was sitting gloomily in the locker room when Hen found him, his gaze fixed on the dark screen of his phone, he didn’t acknowledge her presence, didn’t raise his head and gave her the little smile she was so used to get by now, he was only looking at his phone, only staring at him with sadness and confusion.
-Something’s wrong Buckaroo, she breathed sitting next to him
-I...I asked for a transfer after Bobby told me I wasn’t reinstated, he revealed quietly his sight still on his phone, and I learned today that they actually accepted it, he revealed in a mirthless laugh.
-Why didn’t you tell me...tell us about it, Hen chocked, I never thought you all of people would actually give up, she frowned grabbing his arm, Evan, she pressed using his name for the first time.
-I’m not giving up, he swallowed facing her, I fought, I tried, I did everything to get them back, to get my family back, he hissed tears streaming down his face, I never gave up, he roared pointing to himself, I never gave up, he breathed kneeling down tiredly, it’s a losing game Hen, he half smiled, it’s better to accept defeat, he shrugged.
-Where are you transferred, she queried staring at him,
-Don’t know yet, he shrugged, could be on the other side of LA or in another state, he revealed, told them I was pretty flexible, he joked miserably.
Tumblr media
The spell was broken, just like Cinderella after the clock struck midnight, the mail was a reality check, it was the sign he was waiting for, the one TK was talking about, his Californian dream was definitely over, he didn’t know how to process it, didn’t know how to accept that after three years he was ejected from his earthly Eden.
Tumblr media
He found himself once again the target of a dreamless and sleepless night, once again facing his laptop screen, once again messaging the only person able to get him
From Buck: It seems that the sign I was waiting for came earlier than expected, I don’t know if I’m ready to give up yet.
From TK: It’s not giving up, it’s moving on.

I’m Sure They’ll Understand pt. 2
part 1
fandom: MCU
pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
summary: It’s been a couple months since the party and you’re officially free of HYDRA’s hold on you. The memories still remain, along with the guilt, but at least there’s no chance of reverting back to a murderous super soldier. Steve wants you to try to meet the Avengers once more, and despite your fear, you agree.
warnings: angst
word count: 2017
a/n: i got a little carried away... oops.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You want to bring her on a mission? Did those seventy years in the ice freeze your braincells, too?” Tony glares at Steve across the conference room. The whole team is assembled to discuss an upcoming mission and Steve has just announced his decision to bring you along. “The party was one thing, but this is serious business.”
Steve meets his glare steadily. “Shuri said she’s clear for action. She managed to override all the programming that HYDRA implemented. Plus, Y/N’s not going to be doing any fighting. I just want her to have a chance to bond with you guys.”
Natasha clears her throat and sits up a little straighter. “Look, Steve, I want you to know that I support you and Y/N. But frankly, it’s not the best idea for her to be exposed to HYDRA so soon after deprogramming.”
“Even I couldn’t go on missions for a few months after I came out of cryo again,” Bucky cuts in, tapping his fingers on the table. “It’s nothing against Y/N, it’s just…”
“It’s just you don’t trust her,” Steve says accusingly, sweeping his across the whole room. His team members can’t meet his eyes. He continues, “Y/N deserves your trust. She’s been working so hard for the last year to get better. All the things that she did with HYDRA weren’t her fault.” Steve turns to look at Bucky again. “Buck, I expected some understanding from you at least. None of us hold you responsible for anything you did in the past.” Bucky looks down at his hands guiltily. “So why is it so different for Y/N?”
“Steve,” Natasha says gently. “We’re not trying to attack you or Y/N here. We’re trying to do what’s best for the team. And teaming up with someone who willingly joined HYDRA, not to mention injured you, doesn’t seem smart.” Natasha holds her hand up when Steve begins to interrupt. “I know she had no other choice. But she’s still a liability.”
The fight has died from Steve’s voice. “Just give her a chance. I’ll even stay in the quinjet with her during the mission. I’ll make sure she’s safe.”
“Not a chance, capsicle,” Tony interjects. “Fury wants you taking point on this one. If anyone’s going to stay with her, it’s the Manchurian Candidate over there.” He nods his head toward Bucky.
Bucky’s face is a mixture of disappointment and anger. “Why me?”
“Because you’re the only one who’s been through the same sort of thing Y/N has,” Natasha explains. “You can empathize with her situation.”
Bucky crosses his arms but doesn’t say anything else. The logic is sound, but that doesn’t mean he’s happy about it.
“So, she can come?” Steve asks, trying to keep from sounding like a giddy child.
There’s silence as the rest of the team exchange glances. Steve can hear his heart pounding in his ears. All he wants is for the team to accept you. No matter your past or the horrible things you were forced to do. He wants them to see you like he sees you – beautiful, intelligent, and worthy of love and compassion.
Tony sighs and drags a hand across his face, sighing. “As long as she stays in the jet.”
“I didn’t think we’d be going on a whole-ass mission, Stevie,” you murmur as you pull on one of your boots. The rest of the Avengers have been giving you a wide berth while you all get ready. You eye them all nervously, watching them prepare. The only one who has even spoken to you is, of course, Steve. “You said you just wanted me to hang out with them.”
He offers you a small, reassuring smile. “It’ll be okay, Y/N. It’s a small base; nothing out of the ordinary anyway.”
You tug your other boot on and stand. Even though you’re not going to be doing any fighting, you’re still suited up in a black and forest green bodysuit, along with your signature black hood. You’re not allowed any guns, but your preferred weapon is a bow so you don’t need them anyway. You do, however, have one small knife sheathed at each hip; it’s the most the team would let you have. Your quiver feels empty without any arrows in it, but you understand that the team’s safety is priority. And although there’s no chance of you reverting back to your brainwashed ways, you can tell the Avengers still don’t trust you.
You pat Steve on the shoulder and move closer to the doors of the prep room, hopping from one foot to another as nerves surge through you. You have your back to the rest of the team so you don’t have to deal with their worried glances any longer.
Bucky moves to stand next to Steve, who is adjusting one of the straps on his suit. Bucky sighs as he looks at you. “I still don’t think this is a good idea, Steve,” he says.
“And frankly, I don’t care,” Steve shoots back before walking toward you without another word. Bucky shakes his head and continues to get ready.
Steve places a gentle hand on your arm and you stop your anxious movement. “Ready?” he asks.
You nod and look at the waiting quinjet outside. “I just wish we’d get a move on. I don’t know how much longer I can stand here without throwing something.”
Steve looks at you with worry in his eyes as the rest of the team glances around nervously.
You roll your eyes. “I’m kidding,” you say a little louder, trying to set everyone at ease.
A few moments later, Tony claps his hands together and announces that it’s time to leave. You mumble a quick “thank God” and head out the doors to the jet.
You sit close to the back, leaving a seat for Steve to join you if he wants to. Everyone else takes seats toward the front and you try not to be offended by the amount of space they leave between you and them. Steve sits down next to you though and you flash him a grateful smile.
The ride to the HYDRA base is nearly silent, the tension thick in the air. The team’s thoughts are preoccupied with both the mission and your possible actions. Meanwhile, you attempt to lighten your own mood by playing Sticks with Steve. He’s much better at it than you are but it’s a good distraction. Your soft giggles and words float up to the front of the jet where everyone else is sitting.
“Ten bucks says they’re making out by the end of the mission,” Sam whispers, his own attempt at an icebreaker.
Nat snorts. “I say by the time we get to the base.”
“Deal.” Sam smirks and they shake hands. A bit of the tension lifts and a conversation starts up between the rest of the team members.
You’re half-paying attention to their voices when you hear your name. It’s Nat, trying to get your attention. “Y/N! Clint wants to know what kind of arrows you prefer.”
You blink slowly, trying to register the words. Someone wants to know about you? Your Sticks game forgotten, you fidget nervously with the hilt of one of your knives. “Um,” you start, clearing your throat, “I use smoke bomb arrows a lot. Good for cover when you’re trying to get through a place that’s heavily crowded with hostiles. Sonic arrows are good for distractions.”
Clint nods and takes a few arrows from his quiver. He hands them to Nat, who passes them down the line of chairs to you. You take them hesitantly, noticing that they’re a mix of the two types of arrows you mentioned.
Tony frowns and says to Clint, “I thought we said no weapons.”
Clint rolls his eyes. “They’re barely weapons. They don’t do any damage besides stunning, at the most. Besides, I’m considering it a welcome gift.”
“A welcome gift? For what?” Tony asks, incredulous.
“The Avengers, obviously. It doesn’t look like she’s going anywhere anytime soon.”
The two guys look over at you and Steve. The two of you are now holding hands lightly. As they watch, Steve brushes a strand of hair out of your face and you blush.
Tony hums lightly but doesn’t say anything else.
You can’t help but notice that the rest of the team seems a little more at ease since Clint’s peace offering. A few times, some of the other members ask simple questions but it doesn’t often branch into a longer conversation. Still, you’re happy that they seem to be learning to accept you.
Once you arrive at the base, Steve stands and briefly explains the mission, reiterating once again that you will remain in the jet with Bucky. Things move quickly from there, with Steve handing you an earpiece and instructing you on how to use it before leading the rest of the team out of the jet. You watch them leave, sending up a quick prayer that everyone returns safely.
Once it’s just you and Bucky, you glance around the jet. Bucky hasn’t moved except to take a knife from its sheath and begin to flip it absentmindedly. The tension from before is back, even stronger now.
You can hear the team talking through the earpiece but you barely pay any attention. It’s mostly Tony making jokes and Steve instructing the others on where to go. Eventually, the silence inside the jet gets to you and you have to say something. You clear your throat and Bucky turns to look at you, his face unreadable. “So… is your specialty knives?” You immediately feel dumb for asking such a ridiculous question but can’t do anything about it now.
Bucky shrugs and flips his knife again. “Don’t really have much of a specialty. Used to be a sniper. HYDRA trained me in everything though.”
You nod and silence settles in the air again. Bucky seems to be closed off, which is why it surprises you when he speaks once more, “I remember you from… then. When we were with HYDRA.”
The way he says “when we” makes it sound like some sort of pact. Like some shared trauma that ties you together. You force your mouth to not smile and meet his eyes. “I remember you, too.”
“They called you Ranger, right?”
A tingle goes down your spine at the old name. “Yeah. I don’t use that anymore, though. Too many bad associations.”
Bucky nods, and you think you see a little empathy on his face. “It’s the same with me and the Winter Soldier.” He pauses and there’s hesitation in his voice when he says, “I don’t… I don’t hate you, you know.”
Your eyes widen a bit. “God, Bucky, I never thought that. I know how hard it must be to trust me, though.” You run the edge of your fingernail along your thumb unconsciously, one of those little tics that you do when you’re nervous. You laugh quickly, “Hell, sometimes I don’t even trust myself. So I get it. I don’t expect you to-”
Suddenly, you hear a flurry of gunshots through your earpiece. There are shouts and bangs, all assaulting you at once. You try to focus on one sound, one voice, but everyone is talking over each other. Bucky sits up a little straighter and presses a finger against his earpiece. “What’s going on?” he demands.
“Barnes!” Tony’s voice comes through finally, louder than the rest of the commotion. “We need backup in here; the base is larger than we thought.”
Bucky immediately stands and you start to follow suit, preparing to fight. But Bucky stops you with one hand held out. “What about Y/N?”
There’s no response for a little bit. Finally, Tony again, “Bring her in.”
As you gear up, Bucky shows you where Clint’s extra arrows are and you begin to load them into your quiver. The earpiece is once again only filled with the sounds of gunfire. That is, until Sam’s voice breaks through with three words that shatter your heart.
“Rogers is down!”

Add a twink to the mix
Generated prompt: Eddie confesses to Buck that they have always been curious about what it would be like to have a threesome, so Buck , whether or not they have reservations (it's up to you), approaches a third party with the idea (C’s reaction is, again, up to you).

Eddie was never not satisfied with Buck in his life. When he says this man makes him feel good mentally and physically, he means it. And he also makes him feel good sexually.
Buck completes him, and is his perfect other half.
But some part of him, maybe the part of him who had wanted that good old experimentation, wanted to try something new. Something that, while they mentioned in passing, had never actually talked about in detail.
Threesomes.
It was something that had been on his mind lately, especially with the new Probie in the station. The idea of him sandwiched between Buck and Eddie. The idea of discovering a brand new body in the safety of a consensual and relaxed environment. Buck has never seemed to be close minded. He enjoys talking about things in the relationship, especially if it'll be fun and good for the two of them.
So with that, Eddie finally decides to sit him down and decides it's time to talk.
"So.. I was thinking about something lately and I don't want you to get mad. I just want to talk about it." Eddie says quietly, looking up at Buck who just smiles and rubs his knee encouragingly. "How do you feel about the idea of having a threesome?" He rushes out, biting his lip a moment, then looking up at him with buzzing nerves.
Buck blinks a few times, then he gives a small chuckle.
"'It's not cause I'm not happy with you. You make me so, so happy. But.. I wanna try that.. you know?" He says quietly. He feels almost stupid. Nearly 30 years old and he wants to "try it out?"
"Hey, no I understand. I would be lying if I said I hadn't thought of it. " Buck says with a chuckle. Eddie shrugs and smiles at him and Buck bites his lip. "Probie huh?"
Eddie flushes scarlet, but he nodded quickly.
"I don't know. The idea of having someone new between us.. I want to try that. And probie is just.." Eddie gives a little growl that makes Buck grin.
"He's definitely new. But you do know we need to talk to him about that right? And we know that Max is trans, so he's built different, and that might make him feel a litte awkward." Buck says, leaning back in his chair. He looks up from the table to Eddie's eyes. "But we'll take our time. If it's something you want to try or do, we will try to make that happen."
"You want it too, right? I don't want this without you." Eddie says firmly. Buck pulls him into a kiss as he stands up and strokes Eddie's back gently
"I definitely want this. Now let's get some dinner to eat. I'm hungry." Eddie nodded happily and kisses back.
'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'-'
Eddie looks over the railing to where Max and Buck were detailing the truck together. He can't help but chuckle slightly at the height difference between them. Buck is 6'2, and he's 6 even. Max is only 5'6 and he looks pretty short out of all the crew, accept Chimney who was similar height, if a bit taller. But Max easily holds his own, one of the determined kinds that is a strong, fast and effective worker. He fit right in with the crew here.
Max grins up at him when he notices him staring, waving and Buck looks up over Max with a small smirk and nod.
"Hey, Eddie and I are going out for a drink after work, and we wanted to know if you'd like to join?" Buck asks, and closes the hatch to the medical supply. Max perks and grins a bit.
"Hell yeah. That sounds fun." He went to say something else, but the alarm blares and they dash into action. Eddie now is dying for the end of their shift to come. The rest of the day was going to drag by, Eddie knew, but he could go hang out with Buck and Max at the end of the day. It would be worth the shift.
The last few hours slowly ticked by, but once it was over, Max was changing out in the locker room. Max was pulling on his tank top when Buck and Eddie saw the two top surgery scars on his chest. Max meets their eyes and hastily pulls the shirt down and grabbing his large sweater.
"You don't need to hide those. It's nothing to be ashamed of." Buck says, gesturing to the leg from the fire truck incident. "We all have scars." Max grins slightly and shrugs softly, pulling on a sweater.
"I'm still not used to them. It happened like almost 9 months ago but it's kinda surreal. Like.. from age nine I had boobs. Now... no boobs." He shakes his head and ties his hair off his face.
"Nine??" Eddie asks in disbelief. Max pulls a face.
"Early bloomer. Ridiculously early. It was hell." He says, gesturing to his hips. "You know what it's like having giant hips and thighs in 5th grade?? Its hell." Buck chuckles in surprise and covers his mouth with a sheepish look. "You can laugh that shit was funny."
Max drives behind Eddie's truck to head to the couple's favorite bar, the LA traffic being so slow it gave Eddie and Buck the chance to talk about how to approach it.
"We need to be casual. I mean, that's what this is. It's a casual hook up proposal. We'll have a little something to drink and ask Max what he thinks of threesomes. If its positive we'll figure it out." Buck says with a reassuring smile. Eddie nodded, smiling when Buck leans over to kiss his cheek. Max parked beside their truck, climbing out and adjusting his sweater sleeves. He was a little nervous, and he can't help but stare at the two men climbing out of Eddie's truck. Golden hour did them justice, and so did the tight jeans and very well fitting shirts. He doesn't like feeling intimidated, but he knows that these two are friends, coworkers, and there wasn't any reason to feel so anxious.
But he's still anxious nonetheless.
"Let's get inside. We need a wind down drink." Buck encourages, always the crowd motivator. Max nodded, a little tension falling away from his shoulders. A little drinking would be nice, something to take the edge off. They head inside, thankful that it's not super crowded, but the evening rush would pour in soon enough.
"Do you have a preferred drink?" Buck asks, bumping against Max as they head to a tall table top. Max shrugs absentmindedly.
"What do you guys get?" He asks, settling onto a bar stool.
"Just a beer or two normally." Eddie says, sitting beside him. Max pulls a face and sticks out his tongue.
"God y'all are gross." Max says, still shaking his head. "I know they have blue raspberry wine coolers." He says excitedly. Eddie chuckles and elbows him teasingly. "You can think what you want but at least I dont enjoy drinking overpriced dog piss." Max retorts with a raised eyebrow and a grin. Buck snorts a quiet laugh and goes up to the bar to order, declining Max's offer to pay.
Eddie liked the snark and fierceness that Max carries. Not even in a mean way, he was just expressive. Him and Buck had bursting personalities in common.
It doesn't take long for Buck to come back with three bottles and three shots.
"Shots?" Eddie asks, taking one off the tray.
"Hey it takes the edge off." Buck says with a huge grin. Max chuckles and grabs his.
"That's what the beer is for!" Eddie protests, although he wasn't exactly opposed.
"But it's a little extra." Max says, bumping shoulders. "Now, what are we cheering too. We gotta cheer to something." He says, grinning at Buck as he sits down.
"Cheers too... team work?" He suggests, and after a moment of laughing they cheers to team work and throw back their shots.
The conversation melted around them with ease, but Eddie still seems anxious. The idea of asking Max, who he wanted in more ways then one that question made him nervous but excited. Buck and Eddie made eye contact over their beers and nodded softly.
With the conversation full of boarder line flirting and sexual tension, Buck took his shot.
"What do you think of threesomes?" Buck tosses loosely, grinning softly. None of them were drunk, or even tipsy. But they were pretty relaxed and at ease. That made the conversation so much easier, and words flow easily.
"Never had one, but would totally have one." He looks between the two. "What about you two. You two are dating, so have you ever added a third before?" Max's tone went teasing, and he tried to force his ideas away. The idea that he could join and be the third, the idea of being touched by both of them, be in between them. Max shifted slightly in his seat and tries to keep away his blush.
"We're looking too." Eddie says bluntly. He puts an arm around Max and raises an eyebrow.
"Mmm.. So that wasn't just a question, and more of a suggestion?" Max knows the small amount of alcohol is making him feel bolder, but its not like he hasn't thought about this before. He shudders when Buck's hand glides to his inner thigh.
"It was definitely a suggestion." He growls quietly, hand squeezing his thigh. Max bites his lip and finishes his drink in one final swallow.
"I can drive and I'm ready to leave when you are?" Max says, looking between them and raising an eyebrow. Buck and Eddie share a quick look, and nod. All of them are then hopping off their bar stools and making their way to the exit. The bar was considerably more crowded, more rowdy, but outside the sun was set and the night are was cool. Eddie grabs Max by the hips and pulls him close with a smirk.
"Follow the truck." He says, voice gravely. Max nodded, feeling Bucks body press against his back. "See you soon."
Max fumbles with his keys to start his car, trying to calm his nerves and shifting his hips in his seat. He's way more excited then he expected.
He's able to drive, of course, but as he approaches Buck and Eddie's home, he anticipates what will happen once he's inside. Once he parks, he climbs out and locks the car, knowing he was a moment or two late. Eddie was standing there as Buck unlocks and opens the door. Eddie grins and takes Max's hand, pulling him inside.
The door shut behind them.
Max felt Bucks chest pressing against his back, his hands easily pulling the other into him. Eddie and Buck tower over Max, the heated kiss Eddie gave him taking all his breath. Eddie's hands were slipping under his sweater, under his tank top. With each touch, Max felt like his skin was being lit on fire, but in a delicious burning way.
"Let's get him upstairs, before you loose your mind." Buck says, tone teasing and deep. Max shudders, lips falling away from Eddie's with a click. Eddue leans up and nips Bucks mouth, their lips, teeth, tongue going after the other. Max rolls his hips against Eddie's thigh involuntarily at the sight, a small moan escaping him.
Bucks hand slips perfectly around Max's neck, pulling away from Eddie to kiss him as well.
"Upstairs." Max whispers against Buck's lips.
They stumble up, hands roaming, touching, grabbing, bodies tangling together as need filled each of them.
Max's legs hit the bed and he sits down, quickly pulling his legs up to sit on his knees. He grabs Eddie by his belt loops, pulling him close and beginning to one handedly undo his belt. Eddie yanks off his shirt, Buck settling behind Max and pulling off both shirts he was wearing.
"Fuck!" Max whispers, shuddering at the cold air hitting his skin. Buck places one hand on his stomach, the other on his neck and giving it a firm, but careful squeeze. Max finally, after months of dreaming, was experiencing the best moment of his life. He eases Eddie's pants down, but not his briefs. Not yet.
Eddie was Rick hard, leaking precum onto the cotton of his underwear. Max looks up at him with that look, sucking softly on the tip through his underwear.
Eddie's hands grip his hair hard, a guttural moan escaping him. Buck chuckles into Max's neck, biting and kissing the sensitive skin there. Max licks another strip along the clothes skin and smirks. Carefully he pulls off his briefs, lowering them down to his thighs and biting his lip at the sight.
"Fuck baby.." Max whispers, grinning up at Eddie. Buck chuckles and wraps a hand around Eddie's cock.
"He's so fucking good isnt he? But we don't want him to be the only one showing off, do we?" Buck asks. Max feels Buck shift back, and while Eddie fully shimmied out of his pants, Buck took off his shirt and pants.
"I didn't have bottom surgery." Max blurts when Eddie's hands start undoing his pant button. Eddie paused and looks up at him with a soft smile. He kisses Max softly and rubs his hips.
"That's okay. We're bi." Buck says, gripping his ass. Max shudders and nodded quickly. Eddie pulls off his pants and underwear, throwing the clothes somewhere over his shoulder. Max gets back on his knees facing Eddie and placing a kiss on the side of his cock. Buck settled right back behind him, hand slipping between his legs.
Max takes Eddie in his mouth, trying to clamp his thighs shut when Buck begin to tease him. Buck grabs his thigh and pulls them open. Eddie's fingers tangle in his hair again, pulling him close and Max takes him in willingly.
Soft moaning, whimpering filled the room, Buck perfectly content on watching Eddie take control of another person. Watching him being so dominant over another. Max, normally kind if stubborn, let them in without much protest. It made Buck feel warm, and once Eddie's hips begin to thrust frantically, Buck forces him to pull off.
"Dont want you to cum too early." Buck teases, carefully pumping two fingers in and out of Max. Without a distraction, Eddie's cock in his mouth, Max was focused solely on the feeling of Bucks fingers inside him.
He whimpers shakily, grabbing at Bucks wrist.
"Fuck.. Oh my God." He whispers, hips grinding down on the fingers inside him. Eddie grins and pulls Max to kiss him again. Eddie kisses him like he wants ri devour him. Teeth nibbling over his bottom lip, tongue fucking into his mouth. Eddie has his hand on his jaw, almost on his neck. When Eddie pulls away from the kiss, Max grabs his hand and moves it to his neck.
Buck chuckles at the sight, slowly adding a third finger. "You feeling okay?" Eddie asks, gently squeezing Max's neck. Max whimpers slightly at the stretch, squeezing Buck's wrist and his free hand still holding onto Eddie's arm.
"I'm okay." Max whispers, relaxing at the soft kisses from Buck on his shoulder. "I need more." Max whispers quietly, jerking when Bucks thumb strokes over the sensitive part of him. Buck grins and takes his fingers out, carefully rubbing over the sensitive nub, making Max arch into his hand. Eddie squeezes his neck, listening to Max moan shakily, Buck edging him close to an orgasm and taking his hand away.
"Fuck!" Max cries out, whining as he came down from the high he almost reached. Buck chuckles and turns Max around in his lap, back arched up facing Eddie. Max growls softly at Buck, who nips his neck and strokes a hand down his chest. Eddie slowly edges on the bed, lining up with his entrance, and carefully thrusting inside.
Max arches and gasps shakily, Bucks hand squeezing his neck firmly.
"Such a good boy.. Fuck your so good for us baby." Eddie growls firmly, thrusting a bit further inside. Max feels his brain melt into goo, body melting, thoughts fizzing out as he relaxes into the motions. Eddie was careful to have him adjust, Buck shifting back so Max could take him in his mouth.
Eddie didn't thrust roughly, just rolling his hips firmly and touching over his body, gripping his hips hard enough to make bruises, Max between them, taking what he's given, thighs trembling from each thrust. When Eddie's thrusts get harder, and his hand slips back between his legs, Max takes all of Buck into his mouth and loses it all.
Body trembling through his orgasm, Eddie thrusts only a few more times and pulls out in time. Buck tugs once on Max's hair as warning, before he releases inside his mouth. He's thighs shake softly and he arches a little bit, and moans in pleasure. Max takes it all, swallowing it all down and rocking into Eddie's hand.
The room is full of heavy breathing, everyone trying to keep touching the other person, sweaty and exhausted.
A calm settled over them, and Max carefully sits up with a small wince.
"Where are my clothes? I should probably get going." Max says, voice edging back into the awkward person they know too well.
"Hey.. no. Why don't we get a shower. Your staying here tonight." Eddie says lovingly. Max shifts, but an arm around his waist pulls him back into Buck's chest where he gets a soft kiss on the head and then his lips.
"You think we would want you gone?" Buck asks, hugging tighter.
"Well.. I don't know." He says softly.
"Wanna talk about what this will mean for us tomorrow?" Eddie asks lovingly, kissing Max softly. He nods and Buck picks him up to take him to the shower.
"I can walk ya known." Max protests.
"Not when we're here you can't."

Best Friend’s Brother
Fandom: Marvel (College AU)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: You’ve been best friends with Rebecca Barnes ever since you were twelve. No you’re 22 and now you feel that after for so long, you might not be able to hold back your crush on Rebecca’s brother, Bucky.
A/N: Inspired by Victoria Justice’s song Best Friend’s Brother
Tumblr media
“Y/N! Finally!” Rebecca pulled you into a tight embrace as soon as she opened the door. Summer break was upon you and that meant spending it entirely with the Barnes Family, which you didn’t mind one bit.
You and Rebecca Barnes have been best friends since you were twelve. Ever since then, you were the thickest thieves and George and Winifred Barnes considered you as another daughter to them.
Over the years as you grew in your friendship with Becca, your feelings for a certain someone, her brother, Bucky, grew as well.
You didn’t always have a crush on him. You always saw him as that overprotective older brother. It wasn’t until you got into high school, when he was a junior and you were a freshman, that you realized something. Your best friend’s brother was freaking cute!
But God, you would never be able to tell that to Becca. She’s probably disown you as her best friend! You’d be dropped like the meat jello that the cafeteria serves on Wednesdays!
Ever since you got into high school, you tried to act cool around him. Especially when Becca would leave you two alone for a moment.
Like now.
The three of you were gathered at the kitchen table, your respective textbooks and notes out doing homework. Becca excused herself for a moment to look in her room for some notes that she noticed she was missing.
That’s when Bucky looked up at you, “Hey.”
You looked up surprisingly, “H-Hey me?”
He chuckled, “Yeah. You see anyone else I could be sayin’ hey to?”
You ducked your head down shyly, “No. I guess not.”
Bucky softly laughed and then cleared his throat, “So, uh, how’s your first year of high school going?”
You shrugged, “It’s going. How ‘bout you? Soon enough you’re gonna be a senior. Gonna be varsity captain of the football team and everything.”
It was Bucky’s turn to duck his head shyly, “I don’t know about that, Y/N.”
“Bucky, c’mon! Last year you were a sophomore and made varsity! You’re co-captain this year which means you’re definitely gonna be captain next year! Everyone knows how amazing you are. I’ve seen you during your practices. You’re great!”
“You watch me during practice?”
You froze and began to fumble over your words, “I-I, well, kinda? I mean, I’m not just watching you. I’m watching the entire team too! Just to see how they’re playing and all that.”
“Oh. Yeah. That-That makes sense.”
“What does?” Becca asked as she stepped back into the kitchen.
You felt your cheeks heat up, feeling like you were caught doing something bad, “Just this problem! Your brother was helping me with it.”
You quickly glance towards Bucky and he nodded, “Yeah. Quadratic formulas are hard, am I right?” he quickly goes back to his own homework, mentally kicking himself for acting for freaking weird around you. While you yourself were doing the same thing and mentally cursing yourself for being so awkward with Bucky.
_______________________________
You and Becca were hanging out in her room, talking and catching up with life. You two had gone to different colleges. You attended NYU while her and Bucky went to Fordham University. Sure, technically, you were thirty minutes away from each other, but with your school and work schedules, you never had much time to see each other. That’s why summers with the Barnes’ was always such a blessing.
You two were currently talking about the difficult classes you took, when your ears perked at the sound of yelling and hollering downstairs.
Becca rolled her eyes, “Looks like Buck and Steve are back from playing football with the guys. I’ll go tell ‘em to tone it down.”
You shook your head, stopping her, “It’s alright! I got it. I gotta refill my drink anyway.” you hopped off her bed and headed towards her door.
“If they give you a hard time, you have my permission to punch both of ‘em!” Becca hollers and receives a thumbs up from you.
You anxiously make your way downstairs, your empty cup in hand. In order to get to the kitchen, you have to pass the living room, which was wear Bucky and Steve were.
Steve’s back was to you and Bucky was facing you. You glanced his way, catching his eyes for a second and you look away. You don’t see how his entire face lights up, “Y/N!” he rushes up and heads towards you, “H-Hi! You-You look different than the last time I saw you. In a good way, I mean!”
You chuckled, “Thanks, Buck.”
“It’s good to see you.”
“So...whatcha doin’?”
“I was gonna get myself a drink. You want one?”
“I’ll just come with you!” you walk into the kitchen, him following closely behind. He watches as you pour yourself from orange juice and he chugs down 2/3 of a water bottle.
You snickered, “Thirsty much?”
He smirked and wiped the droplets of water from his mouth, “You could say that.”
His comment rubbed you the wrong way...or the right way because you felt your face heating up. You cleared your throat, “So...how’s the dating life?”
“Um...I don’t know. Haven’t really bothered dating anyone.”
“Oh? Yeah, um, school and work take up all my time. What about you? Any lucky guy or gal sweep you off your feet?”
“Not really. Well, there’s this guy that I’ve been liking for a long time now...but I doubt he’d ever give me a chance.”
Bucky placed a hand on your shoulder, “Sweetheart, he don’t deserve you if he doesn’t give you a chance.”
Meanwhile, while you and Bucky chat in the kitchen, Becca and Steve watch from around the corner, whispering to each other.
“i swear for the love of all things holy and unholy, if they don’t get on with it-”
“Maybe they just need a little nudge?”
Becca turned to her brother’s best friend, “What’re you thinkin’, Rogers?”
____________________________
Wednesday night and the Barnes’ household was bumping. People had red ups and beer bottles in hand, people lounged about talking and laughing, and drinking. It was an awesome way to start off summer break.
You nursed a cup of your own alcoholic beverage of choice, listening intently as one of Bucky’s friends and a former classmate of yours, Sam Wilson, told you a story about a prank he pulled on his bio professor.
“-Coulson was so confused! For months he was searching for that skeleton head and it was seriously above his head the entire time!”
You threw your head back as you laughed, “That’s too good, Sam.”
Becca came to towards you and Sam, waving around a bottle of tequila, “Who wants to play a gaaaaame?”
You both groaned, “What game. Bec?”
“Truth or dare,” she said proudly.
Bucky scoffed from the other side of the living room, “I didn’t know we were at a teenager party, Becca!”
She rolled her eyes, “Oh come on! Now that we’re all of drinking age, this game can be a lot more fun! Take a shot of tequila if you can’t tell the truth or do the dare! Simple as that! Now, who wants to play?” she looked at you epectantly
You sighed and slid off the couch and onto the floor, “Fiiiine.”
“Yay! Anyone else?”
“Why not?” Sam said and other people proceeded to follow suit. You looked up at Bucky, cocking a brow at him, silently asking if he was going to play. He took a swig from his beer bottle and playfully rolled his eyes as he walked over and sat beside you.
He leaned in whispering, “No good is gonna come from this.”
You shrugged, “Just enjoy a little bit of mischief, Buckaroo!”
Five rounds later, everyone is completely smashed. Everyone was relentless on their questions and dares. The only one who seemed totally fine was Steve.
“That’s because Steve is a fucking saint!” Bucky cried out, tossing an empty red cup at him, making everyone laugh.
Steve smirked, “Alright, Buck, your turn.”
“Aw fuck. I’m not looking for a painful hangover so I guess I’m doin’ this one,” he grunted, sitting up and awaiting his truth or dare.
“Truth or dare.”
“Dare. Gimme your best shot, Stevie.”
“I dare you to kiss the most beautiful girl in this circle right now.”
Everyone waited with bated breath as Bucky’s eyes looked around the circle of people. He had to make one of two choice: kiss any girl besides you in the circle, or kiss you like he’s been wanting to since high school.
It’s when you spoke up that Bucky made his decision, “Buck, you could just take the shot and-” your words were silenced as Bucky’s hands cupped your face and he pressed his lips against yours. People in the circle and the room hollered, while others glared, wishing that they were in your place.
Bucky pulled away, panting. Looking into your eyes, he breathed out, “Y/N, truth or dare.”
“Truth,” you breathed out, staring intensely into Bucky’s beautiful blue eyes.
“What are your feelings for me?”
You gulped. Should you tell him? Or should you lie? But could you really lie after that wonderful kiss?
“I...I love you, Bucky.”
“FINALLY!” you both jumped from the outburst. Steve and Becca stood up, giving each other a celebratory hug and high five.
“I’m so lost,” you mumbled.
Bucky nodded, “Me too.”
“We planned this!” Becca exclaimed, “Steve and I planned this so you two could confess your feelings for each other! I mean, I kinda wish we did this way back in high school ‘cause it would’ve saved us a lot of time and less pining and whining from your oblivious asses.”
“But,” Steve stepped in, “Nonetheless, we’re very happy that now both of your feelings are out in the open and you guys can finally be together like you always wanted.”
“We did good, Stevie!” Becca high fived Steve again and fist pumped into the air, “Now...GAME IS OVER! IT’S 2AM SO GET OUTTA MY HOUSE!”
People began to scramble to their feet and heading towards the door as Becca ad Steve shooed them all out, yelling at people to find their drivers or call an uber or whatever. Meanwhile, you and Bucky continued to sit next to each other, fingers now intertwined, and looking into each other’s eyes. A fondness and softness in each other’s.
“So...you wanna go on a date tomorrow?”
“If my hangover from this game doesn’t last until then, then sure.”
Bucky chuckled, “Well...these were the consequences of enjoying a little mischief, sweetheart.”
You shrugged, “I don’t regret it though.”
“Neither do I.”
You both leaned in for another kiss, but was rudely interrupted by two pillows hitting both of you, “Clean now, kiss later, lovebirds!” Becca yelled as Steve handed you garbage bags.
You chuckled, “To be continued?”
“My room?”
“I’ll see you there, Barnes,” you gave him a wink and then proceeded to pick up every empty cup and bottle you saw.
Looks like you hadn’t much to worry about. You were now dating your best friend’s brother.

Play Your Role
Fandom: Promare
Characters: Galo Thymos, Lio Fotia
A/N: So.... I’ve never seen Promare but  IDESPERATLEY WANT TO! So this is kind of based off of clips I could find, the trailers, and ToxicCure’s animation on the film. I don’t think there are any real spoilers here but I most likely got their personalities a bit off. Also, I still have prompts, I haven’t forgotten about them. This idea has just been screaming at me for the last few days.
Also why is there (this being the third) like three tickle related things for Promare? One I found on twitter, by @ Stardips (Star Cubes); and the other on here by the lovely @ticklishfanart.
Description: It’s something he’s embarrassed of, but I t’s something harmless that makes him happy. When playing a game of “cops and robbers”, Lio quickly becomes embarrassed of his idea and tries to dismiss it. However, his boyfriend isn’t about to let him pout or feel ashamed for something that brings him small, innocent amounts of joy.
_
It was quiet other than the sound of heeled shoes clicking on the metal floor beneath them. The leader of the Mad Burnish said nothing as strong hands held his wrists behind his back. No handcuffs or any other restraints apart from gloves to keep him from burning his captors. “Nothing to say?” Of course, the bimbo had to open his mouth. “I don’t exchange small talk with my captors, Burning Idiot.” Galo huffed a bit at the name. “Rescue. Burning Rescue,” he corrected. Lio rolled his eyes.
A small sound escaped his mouth as Galo jolted him to the side and stopped him before leaning over to press a button, opening a small metal door. “Tis way,” he said softly as he guided the other in. Lio felt a small pinch of fear come over him, but quickly swallowed it back down. Looking around, all he could see was darkness. Anxiousness was rising as his fate wasn’t being spelled out to him. Distracted by his worry and attempt to mask it, he neglected to notice the newest recruit to the Burning Rescue had released his arms.
His attention snapped to the fact as suddenly the other was fighting him to remove his jacket. Lio blushed as he quickly turned into defense mode; only to be turned around as the black leather went flying into the air. “Wouldn’t want you to over heat,” Galo said a a little too happily. “Over heat? Really?” Lio shuddered, eyes widening as his blonde locks were lifted from his shoulders and tied above his head and what he didn’t know was a messy bun. “It’s a precaution.”
“Precaution for what,” the shorter asked as suddenly he felt something plush come up from behind him. Galo walked away, trusting the other to remain seated as he turned on the lights. A bedroom came to life, Lio sitting on the small, soft bed. “Well leader of the Mad Burnish, funny you should ask.” Galo smirked as he tried to sound tough. It flattered though as a blush started to spread across Lio’s face; his eyes quickly looking away.
Galo shook his head as his own blush started to form on his face. “Just get this over with dumb ass.” Galo huffed, finding it easier to slip back into the facade he was trying to present. “Whatever you say your highness.” Galo walked over towards his captive with a smirk plastered on his face.
Lio still refused to look at him until their legs touched. He looked up slowly before just staring at the other. Galo was still smirking before bending down. He wiggled his hands under the other’s thighs, earning an odd noise. Two legs came up to buck him as hands grabbed onto his rounded shoulders.
“Y-You…. What are you doing,” Lio hissed. Oh this was too good. “Well I was trying to move you, but it seems that’s not going to happen without a fight.” Lio growled before pounding his fist on to the other’s head. Galo winced before sitting up with a huff. “Ow!” The smaller let out a ‘tsk’ before crossing his arms. “That’s it. I’m gonna whip that smug face right off your royal face!” What? Smug face off his…. face?
Lio didn’t have much time to mess with the other before his hands were suddenly scrambling out of reflex to grab the other’s bare back as he was airborne. Landing with a soft thud, Lio had little time to gather his composure as the taller male straddled his waist. His hands were aligned with his head as the taler fully pinned him down.
“P-Pervert,” was all Lio could think to say. His eyes grew cold as they narrowed; daggers piercing Galo’s mischievous filled eyes. “Am I? Sorry, your nice to look at and all but I’m looking for information, nt a date,” the blue haired male teased. It didn’t make much sense to Lio, but it didn’t need to as fingers quickly earned a squeal from the male. Fingers dug under his arms before purple eyes widened. As they crinkled shut, Lio turned his head into his arms before giggling hysterically. “Whahahat ahahahre yhahaou doing? Sthahahaop!” The laughter merley fueled the other to keep going.
Galo wanted more laughter from the smaller, to see him smile; or show any emotion really. Happiness was a nice emotion to see though so he’d rather see that than the normal stone faced expression. “Whahaht, whahahit! Gheheht off mhehehe!”
Arms struggled to stay overhead as Lio crumbled and succumbed to his nerve’s wishes. “Hehehahahahaha! Whahahahat thehehehe heheheell dhahahao yh-haou want?” “For you to stop starting fires!” Galo let up as to not leave his captive too short of breath too quickly. The blonde greedily sucked down oxygen before slowly opening his eyes to look at the other.
He couldn’t wipe the smile from his face. It was kind of embarrassing, but he couldn’t hide the blush growing on his face. “Hey, if…. if it’s too much I can stop.” Lio hummed as he looked away. He brought his arms over his chest as he tried to curl up some under the taller.
“Hey, I’m serious Lio. Am I being too evil? Should I let you breathe more? Are you hot? I have tank tops if you don’t want to be shirtless and shorts.” He gently rubbed the soft, rounded cheek of the blonde. “No, no. Your fine, this is just…. embarrassing.” Oh. The blue haired male frowned before moving in more to kiss the cheek he was just rubbing. “Was it my performance? I’m so sorry. I know you like this stu,” he was cut off.
“Shhh….. just….. don’t say it.” Galo frowned more before gently moving himself to meet his boyfriend’s eye. “Alright, I won’t say it. But…. if it makes you happy, why are you so embarrassed?
It’s innocent and not hurting anyone Lio.” Lio refused to meet his gaze, closing his eyes as the taller started to place soft, gentle kisses over his face. “I can tickle you if you want.” Lio growled before shoving his boyfriend away, hiding his face more. “Galo!”
The taller got off him, hands up in surrender. “Alright, alright. Easy there Lio.” But the separation made the other look  so…. hurt. Lio said nothing as he looked away again and curled up in the bed more to hide his unknown emotions. The fire fighter got up before walking to the foot of the bed. “Well, let me at least make you more comfortable Mr. Poutypuss.”
The pyro based male said nothing as his boyfriend removed his heeled boots, only answering when asked if the socks were going to stay on or not. Galo pulled them off before gently running his hand up the other as he offered his services for the rest of the body.
“I’m fine Galo.” Of course he was. Galo said nothing of his sarcastic thoughts as he moved away from the other. He sighed as he looked around, not sure what exactly to do. The only time he really heard the other laugh was practically never. When he did something outrageously goofy, he may get a small giggle and a smile; but other than that, Lio was so dense and serious. What to do, what to do.
That’s it. He noticed the weird plant toy thing he’d found before smirking. He was planning on using it for their small role play but considering that was ruined, why not use it now? He gently grasped it before walking back from the dresser and sitting at the foot of the bed. “You want a throw blanket or anything?” Lio hummed before sighing. “The…. the soft one,” he asked almost shyly of the request. Gio nodded before placing the toy down and getting up to grab the plush throw.
He gently threw the blanket over him, waiting to watch Lio start to undress underneath to feel teh soft fabric against his skin. Walking over, he gently started to help him with his shirt before taking the discarded pants and shirt and hanging them over his bed frame. “Thanks,” the blonde said lowly. “Mmhmm. I mean, as a Burning Rescue member, it’s my duty to help people.” Galo hopped onto the bed before leaning over the other from behind.
“Oh? I thought it was to be a loud mouthed, arrogant, cocky,” he was cut off by a small kiss on the lips. “Okay, rude.” The small smile he received, the small snort. He brought a true smile to Galo’s face as his blue eyes softened. “Your beautiful,” he stated breathlessly. Lio blushed more before turning away from him and curling up more under the covers. “Shut up.” “Aw sorry your highness, here I’ll make it up to you.” Oh?
Lio waited, but the expected kisses never came. What did Galo have in mind? Slowly, he peeked up from the covers. The blue spikes were bobbing from the end of the bed. What was he- wait. Galo gently grasped a slender, pale ankle before pulling it out from the soft cover to see the false lighting of the room. “What are you doing,” Lio asked as he propped himself up more on an elbow. There was a pause in response, it worried the Mad Burnish former leader.
The soft cattail plant inspired toy gently stroked up his sole, earning a squeal. Galo turned with a cocky smile to finally answer the question. “Making up for what I ruined. Now laugh sweetheart, I wanna hear that sweet, sweet music.” Lio twisted around to reach for the other, but it did him little as the new weapon proved it’s worth. “Ghahahahalo! Sthahahaop! T-Thahahat’s,” he could hardly speak. It was so soft and his giggles were so light and airy.
His stomach filled with butterflies as he became more and more flustered. He wiggled his feet around when his boyfriend grabbed both of them. Attempting to lay on his hands so he wouldn’t stop the sensation, he felt rather idiotic for floudering around like a fish out fo water. The blanket was falling from him slowly and he squirmed around, really starting to laugh and shake when the toy found his toes.
“G-Ghahahahalo!” There was a soft wheeze after the name escaped soft lips; causing the other to quickly stop. “You okay?” The toy was quickly discarded as hands started to rub the assaulted areas to sooth the feeling.
“Was that too much? You alright? Do you need anything? Water? Air?” He sounded so panicked. Lio blushed before shyly smiling. He…. he really was one of the good guys, huh? “I’m alright. I can get my own water.” He gently took his feet back before pulling the blanket back up to cover him again. “You…. you could come up here though. If you want.” Galo smiled before getting up before crawling up quickly before grabbing hold of his boyfriend.
His hands started squeezing at Lio’s legs as he pulled the other on top of him, earning a few kicks and gentle giggles. Galo reached for a normal blanket on his bed to throw over them as Lio’s was now between them. He finished his work with looking at the other with a bright smile. Lio couldn’t hold teh expressionless facade when it came to this dork, not after what they’d been through. “C’mere hero.” He gently pressed their lips before sighing. “Wait, did you just call me a hero?”
Lio sighed before moving up from the other’s body. “Don’t ruin this Thymos.”

Tony insisted everyone meet for brunch on Sunday around 11am. While you appreciate the gesture, after the late-night surrounded by so many people you’re kind of dreading it.
“We should make an appearance.” Bucky insists, slipping into his jeans while you’re still in one of his tee’s and your underwear in bed.
“Who even are you?”
“What?”
“Since when are you so keen on socializing?”
He laughs, “Guess you’re rubbing off on me.”
“Yeah,” begrudgingly you crawl from the bed.
“It’s a low bar babe.” As you walk to the closet he grabs you and places a nipping playful kiss on the back of your neck.
“Mmm, sure you wanna go?” You purr, reaching back and pulling his hips close.
“Yep,” he slaps your ass hard. “Get dressed.”
Just about everyone is lounging in the common space save for Hill, who you saw leave the party last night with a knockout blonde.
“Morning!” Steve booms from the kitchen, pouring himself some OJ. From across the room, a blueberry hits Steve right between the eyes.
“We talked about this Rogers. Inside voices,” Clint groans, head falling back on the couch.
“Go a little hard last night Clint?” You pat his forehead as you walk by, he grunts in response.
Tony rounds the corner, “Oh the IT couple is here finally.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Tony laughs and plucks the paper Sam holds up from his hands.
“Check out who’s gracing the front of the Styles section.” He presses the Times into your hands and you stare down at a picture of you and Bucky from the night before.
The story is just a general overview of the gala but there, big and in color, are you and Bucky on the dance floor. It must have been just after the song ended. His hands are on your waist, the smile on his face brighter than the sun, your head is tossed back in a laugh. You look like any happy couple… Save for the fact that you weren’t just any couple.
“You’re on the website too,” Nat walks up and hands you her tablet.
There’s a gallery from the evening featuring everyone but there are quite a few candid photos of you and Bucky. One your head is resting on his chest, his lips pressed to your forehead. The caption reads: “Avenger team members, Barnes and Michaels, share a tender moment.” You aren’t sure how you feel about it. From the tension in Bucky’s jaw, he doesn’t know either.
“You can’t buy good PR like that,” Pepper says making herself and Natasha mimosas. “The two of you were just perfect.”
You both only stay for a bit. Unsettled by your images being so widely shared after living your lives in shadow for so long. It was a very abrupt change…
Back in the apartment, you pick up the paper that was always left by the door, Bucky liked doing the crossword. You look at the picture again. Shaking your head.
“You ok?” Bucky comes up behind you, gently rubbing your back.
“Yeah… just… my mom is definitely turning in her grave right now.”
“Good or bad way?”
“Good,” you laugh a small hollow sound. “Her daughter in the society pages. She’d be beside herself. I can hear her now,” your accent tries to echo your mom’s soft German accent. “Finally you got it right my little firefly.”
“Firefly?” His expression is achingly soft.
“Mhm. I used to be obsessed with them when I was little. Always chasing them and catching them for her. So it became a nickname.”
“I bet they’re both very proud of you, doll.”
You shrug. “I’m… I’m gonna hop in the shower.”
Two days later you go into the office for a pen to keep score in Scrabble and notice something new on the wall. The picture of you two from the paper beautifully framed. Your breath catches in your throat. It’s placed next to a picture of a young you with your parents, all three of you smiling and happy and a photo of him with his sisters and Steve, all of them smiling. Happy moments spanning almost a century, the two of you connecting them…
“Ich liebe euch beide,” (I love you both.) you whisper to your parents’ photo. “Sorry, it took me so long to get it together… I wish you could meet him… you’d like him.” Your eyes slide to the picture of you both.
You kiss your fingers and press them to the picture of your little family before wiping your eyes and heading out.
-
Bucky’s leg is bouncing at a ridiculous rate until you set your hand on his knee, giving it a squeeze. He looks at you, knowing he looks like he’s about to burst open. It’s taking everything in him to shut up.
“So,” your voice is so steady, he can’t understand how you’re not as nervous as he is right now. “You’re sure this one is legit?”
Tony sighs, “Yeah. After the last two, we figured if we came across something similar to your signature again we’d monitor the area for a bit longer, see if or how the readings change.”
He runs a hand over his face as he looks over the images floating over the table. “The readings are strong… really strong. The draw on the power grid is insane. And… well, we’ve picked up all the variations of your energy signature… it’s not coincidence.”
The fact that the chances of them finding assets similar to you are incredibly high isn’t what has him on edge. It’s that the industrial complex the readings are emitting from is just outside of Odessa in Ukraine… It’s too close to what was once Hydra’s hotbed… It’s very possible that this is the facility you were made at, he knows you have to realize this.
The last place with a matching energy signature had been a place they’d housed you for a while. That alone wrecked you. To go back to where it all started… who knew what that may do to you emotionally.
“How volatile is this, Tony?” Steve’s tone is gravel.
Tony just stares a bit and Bruce answers, “Very. The emissions have been steadily climbing over the past couple of weeks. Only thing is we can’t really get a lock on how many are running the place… no way to know what we may run into.”
“But we can’t ignore it,” Sam’s gaze is locked on the screen’s, determination setting his features.
“No,” Tony agrees in a solemn voice. “We absolutely can’t.”
They head out tomorrow evening so they’ll land in Ukraine in the early morning hours. The hope being that the cover of darkness will give them a tactical advantage, the last thing they want is for them to abandon ship and set up elsewhere again. With any luck, this will be how they put an end to this particular project once and for all. He knows that will bring you peace of some kind.
Once the tactical brief is over and you’re back in the safety of your apartment Bucky wordlessly pulls you toward the bedroom. He needs to feel your skin against his. He needs to touch you, set you alight in the best way possible, see the sparkles in your eyes.
“Buck-” he cuts you off with a kiss, his hands sliding under your hoodie. Your body responds to his touch the way he hoped it would goosebumps rising, heart rate increasing, your hands grasping the waist of his jeans to hold him close.
At this point, you’ve learned the ins and outs of the other’s body. Even so every time he feels your touch it feels like the first time. He still is amazed you want him. He’s still so goddamn thankful.
He pulls your hoodie over your head and slides your leggings down your powerful thighs. Holding you by your hips he lifts you just a touch and gently tosses you back on the bed. Your small giggle fills him with warmth.
Once you’re free of your leggings entirely he runs kisses down your thighs, letting his stubble rub against the tender skin in that way that makes you shudder. His tongue flits across your clit causing you to let out a low sensual sound. He’s aching, throbbing against the confines of his jeans. He ignores it. Right now he wants to make you feel good. To chase away any thoughts that aren’t pleasure.
After he’s lost count of the number of times he’s made you come you pant, “No more, please. I… you, I need to feel you, Bucky, please.” He smiles. It’s cute how you said please as if he’d ever say no.
Morning comes too quickly for his liking.
You shower together and it’s not until you’re drying your hair he finally says something about the mission, “If you can’t handle this, Y/N it’s ok. No one would judge you.”
Turning you give him a weak smile, “Are you really worried that I can’t handle it, babe? Or can you not…”
He traces your brow with his metal fingers, “I just don’t want this to get to you like the last one or… the first one… with the woman…” You take his hand in yours, studying his face.
“It won’t.”
“You don’t know that, Y/N.”
“I do.” This time your smile is full, lighting up your features. “I have you. Nothing will ever be like it was before.” You look away, your brow knitting before meeting his gaze once more, “Bucky… I… you… I don’t feel broken anymore. Because of you.”
His chest constricts. Immediately he pulls you to him, crushing you to his chest. “You were never broken, Y/N. Never.”
-
As soon as the jet lands a mile away from the facility, you steel yourself. The fizzing in your head and a sick feeling in your stomach that began the moment you saw the shots Tony pulled up told you everything your own memories couldn’t really touch.
You had done your best to relay what information you could in today’s briefing. Everything from writing and drawing to miming, like some weird party game, was utilized. Hydra was smart, they knew it was always best for their dogs to know where home was but to never be able to lead anyone to it.
For what it was worth they knew the three-story building in the center of the complex was the main hub. The others were just storage, additional offices, nothing worth too much note and as best they could tell they weren’t being used at the moment. Underneath that building and snaking under the complex were at least four stories of labs, R & D facilities, medical facilities, training areas, holding cells, etc.
Since Tony and Bruce’s scans had revealed the same shifting energy signature that you emitted it was safe to assume they had, at least somewhat successfully, created another asset with abilities like your own if not multiple. The team is aware there’s a chance these people will likely be similar to the one you Nat, Steve, and Bucky faced all those months ago. Because of this the general consensus was to put them down, they couldn’t save them and they would be too big of a risk otherwise.
The main goal is to remove the possibility of these assets being sent out to wreak whatever havoc Hydra had planned. After that, they would get any intel they possibly could hard copy or otherwise and destroy any means they used to create you. With any luck, this would be the end of this branch of Hydra’s research. And you could close this chapter of your story once and for all.
“Alright,” Steve gets everyone’s attention, standing near the front of the jet. “We’re all clear on what we’re facing? And that Y/N has point here?”
A resounding Yes sends chills up your spine. No one knew what they were walking into, not really, and the idea of being the lead… You weren’t a leader. You were an asset. Trained to infiltrate, kill, obey. You didn’t lead you were led… led until you’d finally tell someone to go fuck themselves. Then they just reset you… a machine made, for one thing, destruction.
“Y/N?” Sam’s voice is soothing next to you.
“Yeah, sorry. I’m good.” Bucky’s metal hand gives yours a gentle squeeze.
Sighing heavily you release Bucky’s hand and stand next to Steve. “Like Tony said earlier, Jarvis can scan for energy signatures and alert everyone if something is about to go haywire but it’s not perfect. If you feel your skin begin to prickle, the temperature drop, or anything that’s remotely odd move on quickly. You engage with someone like me one shot to the head or the heart is the best course of action,” the tension around this point is palpable. “Physically attack as little as possible because it could trigger them to blow and if they’re good enough they can kill you on contact.”
You feel the energy shift under your own skin, “And if I say run, get the fuck out. We’re not losing anyone over this.”  Your fist flexes by your side, thin tendrils of static glowing around it.
“Let’s end this.” Steve plants a heavy reassuring hand on your shoulder.
Everyone knows what their role is. Sam and Clint are covering the perimeter and outbuildings, taking out anyone they see and being their eyes on any suspicious activity that may indicate something going wrong inside. Tony is with Natasha and Hill while you’re with Steve and Bucky, the idea being that each grouping had someone who could lock in on energy signatures quickly. They would take the upper levels while your team would take the lower.
Though energy made it hard to scan for movement and heat signatures Tony was able to modify the coms to work. They had tested it over and over with your own power thrumming nearby and you were both confident he had it sorted. At the very least, you’d all be able to communicate what was happening.
Sam stops the van just outside the first building in the complex and you all file out before he tucks it away somewhere.
No one engages with you all on the first floor. It’s eerily quiet but you can feel that low pulse of power coming from somewhere below you, generators and something far more familiar. Bile rises in your throat and you struggle to force it down.
Tony’s group splits to head up while Steve and Bucky look for an access point down. You can’t seem to move. After a minute Bucky realizes you’re stuck.
“Baby,” his arms encircle you, the feeling of his touch and his familiar scent grounding you. “If you can’t do this-”
You shake your head. When you open your mouth at first nothing comes out, some part of your brain screaming that you aren’t supposed to speak here. “I w… want t… to.” You stutter but manage it. Small as it is it feels like a victory.
Steve lays a warm hand on your upper back, it's comforting to have both of them with you. “I got nothin’ but there’s gotta be a way down.”
There’s a ringing in your ears as you try to think, you press your forehead into Bucky’s chest squeezing your eyes closed trying your best to focus. It hits you, no stairs from here, an elevator hidden. Without a word you pull away from the both of them and walk robotically toward an office to the right.
The walls are wood paneling, a desk and chairs and books sit as though they’re just waiting for someone to come back from lunch. You know they’ve been in the same position for near 30 years. Automatically your hand reaches for the pencil cup, fingers effortlessly locating the one pen that doesn’t move. The innocuous sound of a pen clicking is followed by the whooshing of an elevator.
You all exchange a glance. An elevator was risky but… it would be faster.
“Y/N found an access point down. Elevator, fifth office door on the right, click the red pen in the cup. Well take it to the bottom and work our way up.” Steve updates the rest of the team.
“Be careful,” Natasha responds.
“We’ve cleared the second level, no one here. Once we’re done we’ll head down too.” Tony sounds tense. Someone should be here. Likely they were all downstairs… waiting.
Steve presses the fourth button, at least you were right about that. The doors close and each of the men takes one of your hands. From the corner of your eye, you see Bucky cast Steve a small but appreciative smile. As the elevator slows Steve releases your hand and moves in front of you both, shield out.
The doors open and there’s silence for a moment. All three of your heads swivel to the left, enhanced ears picking up on the slightest sounds. It’s over quickly. Steve shields you all from the bullets. One asset is like you, but like the other their attacks are unrefined. Steve manages to block a bolt with the shield.
“Down!” You command Steve and Bucky.
They hit the ground and a second later you send a white-hot bolt of energy slicing through the group. Some dodge of course but none save for the asset is fast enough to avoid your next volley. The asset lunges at you, hands sparkling. Bucky plants a bullet between their eyes in an instant and they’re down, energy dissipating.
As you make your way through the level you’re met with two other factions, neither have another asset like you though. There are a couple of muzzled assets but they go down like all the rest. This is not, after all, a mission where mercy can be afforded.
You’re picking your way through the medical ward. The pulsating energy from the generators makes your skin tingle, small sparks rising from you every now and then. A couple of computers are still running and you wipe them clean, hoping there’s something useful there. Once you take what you need you fry them to a pile of bubbling metal and plastic.
The underground levels are expansive, and after almost two hours of fighting and searching, you’re still not done here. Every passing minute seems to bring a new fragment of memory shooting through your skull. You keep them to yourself though, it’s not the time for them.
Tony’s voice crackles in through the coms. “Nat’s down. Entered what looked like a room with a boxing ring, it was electrified or something. Her vitals are steady but she’s unconscious.”
You grasp your head in your hands, trying to convince yourself that your skull isn’t going to fly apart. “T… training,” is all you can get out.
“Didn’t copy,” Hill’s voice chimes in.
“Y/N says those are training areas,” Steve looks to you for confirmation and you nod. “Avoid any room like that you see.”
You shake your head redirecting your mind to thoughts that weren’t about the facility so your tongue would obey you. “Go help them.” Steve looks like he’s going to argue, “We’ve got this. With Nat down, they’re down a person up there and someone needs to have an eye on her while she comes too since we can’t just leave her in the jet.”
“She’s right Steve. And in charge,” he throws his friend a wink. “We can handle ourselves. Go.”
Steve nods, “I’m heading to you, hold your position.”
You think this area is almost clear. At least until you cautiously you open two double doors that lead into a viewing area. Chairs are aligned in rows, bolted to the ground. Maybe enough for 20-30 people However they don’t face a screen.
In the corner of the room is a clear wall of what seems to be some kind of reinforced glass set between steel beams. Beyond that wall is a decently sized room. The only entry from where you stand is a door made out of the same clear material lined in metal supports. The two other walls of the room are stark white save for a window revealing a dark space beyond.
Your breath hisses out of you, Bucky turns concerned. “What is it?” Like a fish dropped on dry land your mouth opens and closes, nothing but small noises escaping, your brain screaming to tell him but your body unable to comply. “It’s ok baby,” the fingers of his right hand caress your cheek. “It’s ok.” Quickly he leans down and kisses you softly.
His touch. That’s what you focus on. Grabbing his hand you think about how good it feels when his skin is against yours, how good it felt last night to be with him. This seems to work, to allow you to take back some authority.
“There’s more.” Your voice is low but steady. “Through there.” You point toward the glass. “Research I think.” Bucky nods and you both proceed.
As you get closer though the energy levels rise higher. This room is like the one that zapped Nat… His hand goes for the handle.
“Wait!” He freezes. “Let me go first. I think it… it’s…” Fuck them for taking your words. You hold up your hand and let the power lash out in mini lightning bolts to demonstrate.
“Got it. Then we leave it.”
“No.”
His expression is exasperated when he turns to you. “Y/N you said-”
“It won’t hurt me. We have to clear everything.”
“Fine, if it goes too far back though.”
“I won’t proceed. There’s gotta be a way to shut it off close by anyway. I’ll look for that first.” He’s clearly not thrilled and honestly, you’re not either but you want to do this right. You kiss his cheek before opening the door.
The door and the walls are at least ten inches thick, the space around the door reinforced to a ridiculous amount and clearly only meant to be opened from the outside. Immediately you’re flooded with that energy, pure power, electric and hot flowing into you. After a few steps, you stop, having to take a moment to gather yourself.
“Doll?” Bucky calls after you, his voice dripping with concern.
“I’m ok,” you hold your right arm out thin strands of energy flowing from you to the ground. To your surprise the feeling clears your head a bit, you feel more in control than you have this whole time.
“I think… I think there’s one more level.” You turn to him. “Down. Where this,” you hold open your hand and light pulses so bright it’s almost blinding, “comes from. “Where I-”
“Y/N!” Bucky bellows moving to enter the room despite the risk. You’re incredibly thankful the door slams, preventing him from killing himself in here. You hear him fire his gun at the glass to no avail as you turn.
The room to the back is lit all the sudden, the power around you beginning to dissipate.  A comm seems to switch on and you can hear Bucky’s voice screaming.
“Goddamnit! Steve, we have a situation back and left of where we split. Double doors. Backup now!”
You’re about to turn to tell him there’s gotta be another entrance and that you can hear him when a panel in the wall opens. You brace yourself for a fight, light coursing up your arms, lashing out ready to be released. A smirk plays on your face, they charged these rooms to trap people but only managed to give you a boost, unfortunate for them.
Instead of an asset or an agent though, a dignified older woman walks out. Her hair white and pulled into a familiar high bun. The set of her shoulders, the way her head is held, the way her eyes settle on you…
“Y/N!” Bucky screams, pounding on the door, trying in vain to get it open.
“Please, Sargeant Barnes, don’t make a fool of yourself,” the woman looks at him in disgust her accent softly Germanic. “This room was built to contain someone far more powerful than a recycled grunt like you could ever be.” She looks back to you, “Hello my little firefly.”
“Hurry!” Bucky bellows into the com. “Y/N! Baby doll, look at me.” He sounds like he’s a world away.
“M… mom?” You’re going to be sick you can feel it.
“Yes liebling,” she keeps her distance but gives you a smile. “It’s been too long. Longer to you I know. I wish that wasn’t the case but-”
You press the heels of your hands to your forehead as images flash. She was here… she had been… everywhere? What-
“This was not my preferred way my firefly but as always you have forced my hand.”
“I don’t-” you manage to breathe out. She takes a step toward you and you step back. Bucky is still pounding at the door with his metal fist, determined.
“You were born to be a wunderkind.” You can hear Steve in your crackling com, trying to find you but her voice cuts through everything. “My wunderkind. The honor to be chosen to be your mother…” She places her hand over her heart, “You were going to be the beginning of a new order for Hydra. A child raised in power-”
“W... what?!” This doesn’t make sense.
“Do you think you just happened to be stronger, faster, smarter all around better than your peers. No, my firefly.”
Suddenly you remember doctors visits throughout your childhood always with her. Your mother giving you injections telling you not to worry your dad because he was already so busy… The pushing the requirement to be perfect, it all takes on a sinister air.
“No, we made you better, all so you could become who you were meant to be. But instead, you threw it all away.” She sighs, a sound you grew familiar with as a teenager. “You forced my hand then, you’ve done so now.”
Steve is there, pounding with his shield, it’s not doing much, they call for Tony but you just can’t seem to care.
“It was one thing to work with trash like that,” she gestures to Bucky and Steve. “We could, I could, tolerate it while we got things sorted but to be with it. To debase yourself with Zola’s dog. I couldn’t stand by.”
“What did you say…” You growl, power once more pulsing.
“Don’t listen to her, Y/N!” Bucky calls out.
“I created you to surpass everyone, to stand above humanity. I made you-”
“You made me into a monster!” A bolt crashes just in front of her. Unimpressed she looks down.
“I made you into a god!” She sneers, “You made yourself into a disappointment.” That word hits you like a bullet to the chest. “Filling your body with filth. Associating with low lives. I did what any mother would do when it was clear there was no hope. I saved you from yourself!”
She takes a deep breath and composes herself. “We would have brought you back home in a gentler fashion. But when I saw those photos… I knew I had to extract you sooner.”
“Home,” you spit the word.
“Yes. This is your home, Y/N. With me.” You hear Tony in the com he’s coming. Once more she sighs, “No matter, soon you’ll remember who you are, what you were born to be. Doch’,” the Russian word for daughter zings through you.
Immediately you lift a glowing hand in threat, “Don’t.”
“Ubegay,” a smirk lifts her lips.
Your hand shakes as does your voice, “Mama, don’t.” Even after everything… the thought of killing your mother…
“Boginya,” you try to shoot her but you miss. “Rassvet.”
“Bucky!” You scream, power slipping away from you in response to the words. Frantically you run to the glass by the door.
“Y/N! Tony hurry!”
“Vybrannyy.”
He presses close as Steve keeps pounding at the handle, “Look at me baby,” his voice echoes over the com. “Stay-”
“Zashchishchat’.” You scream and fall to your knees holding your head. He kneels mouth moving but you can’t really understand the words. “Pod’yem.” Your body feels so heavy your head filled with humming, static, pain.
“Y/N!” He screams your name over and over. This man…
“Dvadtsat’,” another man outside, metal man. You rise slowly and turn toward the woman speaking. The woman with the words. “Dtanovit’sya.”
She smiles broadly, “Svetlyak.” Everything in you... freezes. “There’s my firefly.”
There’s a loud noise behind you. You don’t think to look, haven’t been told to. No orders. Just wait.
Something circular swooshes through the air hitting the woman with the words in the stomach, she crumples to the ground. You don’t care, she didn’t give you orders to protect her.
“Y/N! Baby!” A man with a metal arm takes you by the shoulders, shakes you. “Y/N?! Come on, fight it! Come back to me.” He looks so upset… did he give you orders? He seems familiar…
“Soldat?” That’s right, the arm. The Soldier. Not a handler but he sometimes was like one. He looks at you horrified. The other men just watch.
Would he know what you were to do? “Kakovy nashi zakazy?” (What are our orders?)
“Oh god.” He runs a hand over his face and through his hair, turning away. When he turns back he strikes you, hard, with his metal hand.
You hit your knees. Head reeling from the blow. From Bucky’s blow.
“Barnes!” Tony bellows.
Bucky ignores him collapsing next to you. “I’m so sorry baby,” he pulls you to him. “I’m so sorry. I’m so-”
He’s pressed your face to his chest, rocking you a little, “Thank you,” you croak.
He holds you at arm's length, “Y/N?!”
You nod, “Thank you. You kept your promise.”
His face collapses. For a minute you hold one another both knowing that the end had just come so close.
There’s a wheezing, a cough, before, “Pathetic.”
That bitch. You release Bucky and stand, pushing past Steve and Tony who are dumbfounded at everything they’ve seen. Standing over your mother you feel power pulse up your spine.
“I thought you’d be my biggest victory, you’re nothing. Too weak for greatness like your father.” She forces herself up coughing once more, blood at the edges of her mouth. “I should have put you both down.”
“Fuck you,” you growl. About to blast a hole through her chest.
“Hail, Hydra.” Immediately she begins to foam at the mouth.
“No you don’t get to-” A wild feral scream tears through you and you blast her straight to the chest once, twice, before you let loose a third Bucky wraps you in his arms turning you away from your mother's corpse.
You break. Screaming and screaming until it doesn’t even seem to be coming from you. Body pulsing bright all over. Your whole life… everything you thought you had known or that you had tried to draw peace from was a lie. Your own mother… Had she killed your dad… All because you…
Bucky’s lips are next to your ear, softly he begins to sing. Fly Me To The Moon. “In other words, hold my hand,” his hands slide over your own, sparking with energy. “In other words, baby, kiss me…” Slowly you both sink to the floor, your screams giving way to sobs. “You are all I long for, All I worship and adore,” he rocks you gently your back to his chest. “In other words, I love you.”
As he finishes you’re able to get a hold of yourself, body no longer glowing dangerously. Breathe a little normally.
“It’s clear back there,” you hear Hill’s voice say softly to Steve and Tony. “Got some data from the computer. I don’t think she expected to lose, there’s a lot there.”
“Great,” Tony whispers. He kneels in front of you, “Sparks,” his gauntleted hand rests gently on your thigh, “let’s get you outta here.”
Bucky releases you and you stand on shaky legs. “Natasha?” You ask looking to Hill.
“She’s ok,” she gives you a warm smile.
The relief from that statement is short lived. A massive pulse of energy thrums somewhere beneath your feet.
Your eyes shoot to Tony’s as Jarvis pipes over the com, “There seems to be some sort of anomaly, I cannot get a lock on it but I suggest immediate evacuation.” You nod agreeing.
The elevators are down, likely an automatic shut off when there’s a breach like the one you’re feeling. You know that somewhere there have to be stairs but no one had found them yet. Tony blasts through the doors without a thought.
“We could climb up,” Steve says.
“Too slow.” He steps in and rips a hole through the roof, “Get in, I can pull it up.” You do as he says and Tony pulls the car up at the first-floor doors Steve pulls them open. The three of you let Hill out first before crawling out yourselves. Once everyone is clear he releases the car and it plummets to the ground.
Another pulse of energy rattles the windows on the building. It’s so like your own for a moment you’re scared it’s coming from you.
“Sir, I believe the facility is set to demolish itself,” Jarvis’ unfazed tone rings in your ear.
“Right. Let’s get going. Wilson, get that van ready we need to get the hell out now,” Steve calls out as he starts for the exit.
Hill is fast but she's not enhanced and the distance between the main building and the van is about 150 yards. Tony scoops her up and the three of you run at full speed. Almost to the van, you feel a massive pulse vibrate the ground under your feet, curling up your burning legs you freeze.
Bucky looks at you from the door, “Y/N, come on baby.” Another wave, this time you hear the buildings around you groan.
It’s not just the building that’s set to blow… You realize with a sick feeling… it wasn’t that your mother didn’t think she’d lose… she just knew it wouldn’t matter either way. When this detonates, you don’t know if it’s an asset or multiple or what… but the blast will be devastating. If it’s even fractionally as powerful as it feels Odessa will be in the bottom of a crater in the coming minutes… All those innocent people…
Bucky’s approaching you, to drag you to the van. Tony hovers close by, you look to him as you start to back up, “Remember that promise, Tony?”
“Yeah…”
“Time to cash in.” Bucky is almost to you and you shoot a light shock toward him to slow him down before you bolt back to the main building.
“Y/N!”/“Goddamnit!” You hear Tony and Bucky exclaim simultaneously. There are the sounds of a scuffle.
“Tell me what’s happening Sparky!” Tony grunts, the sound of metal on metal ringing in your com.
“It’s bad, the blast, the energy, real bad. I can stop it just get him!” You look over and see Bucky in hot pursuit before Tony grabs him.
You don’t look back again. You can’t. Despite hearing Bucky call out over and over.
Unable to stand it you rip the com out of your ear, crushing it in your hand. Even without it, even with the rumble of the earth, you can make out the fight. Should have told them to go, get away… But you can keep them safe. You will keep them safe.
At the face of the building, you take a deep breath and jump, releasing a blast from your palms to propel you up. This wasn’t something you did often, and sometimes it didn’t work but right now you have no choice, you’ve got to get to the roof. From there you can channel the energy through the building pull it up, focus it into something concentrated rather than an uncontrollable destructive blast. It will be unlike anything you had ever done but… you had to try.
It gets you about halfway. You grab a window ledge with both hands, using everything you have you push yourself up, releasing your grip and letting out more energy. Another wave of force almost causes you to lose your grip on the edge of the roof but you hang on and get there.
Kneeling at the edge you place your hands flat on the concrete, much as you had that day you thought of killing Bucky in the field you send your sense out to find your target down, down, down using the metal supports of the building itself to guide you. There.
It feels like people, three of them, assets, just like you… all about to blow…
Looking out you can see them still. Bucky and Tony are struggling, the whisper of Bucky’s screams echoing through the abandoned buildings. Everyone else standing unsure of what to do. All these people you… love.
You focus with all your might to draw the power of the three hopeless souls into something you can control. As you do so your heart shatters in your chest because now you know you aren’t getting through this, not if you want to save them all… and you never fucking said it.
Not to any of them and not to the one person who really needed to hear it… You told him with your body, with your concern, in every subtle sweet way a person can but those three words… words you knew with all your being were true… you never let them fall from your lips… and now…
Your own power, coursing through the frame of the building, begins to act like a sort of intangible conduit as it harnesses that of the three assets. Strangely it’s easy, their force so undisciplined, seems almost happy to find a path to flow into. The building groans, smoke emitting from it here and there, windows blowing from the rising heat. White streaks of light are beginning to become visible, like concentrated lightning, running straight for you.
As this overload flows into your body it takes everything in you to not scream, the pain is so blinding. You don’t want them… him to hear that though. Raising your other arm to the pink early dawn sky you pray to anything that will hear you that this plan will work… that you’re strong enough to contain this force. Like some bizarre lightning rod, the power thrums through you crackling from your fingertips, your body glowing bright…
“Like a firefly,” you think.
“Straight up, straight down, not out, not out, contain this contain it.” You focus on those words, determined. The power is about to break, you can feel it. The light almost blotting out everything, taking away your view of them.
“I love you,” you whisper wishing he could hear.
Then there’s nothing but light, and pain, and surrender.

Stony Bingo 2019 round 2 fill (square T5) Prompt: mistaken identity
Steve was not sure how he ended up in this mess. And it was a mess because the people surrounding him had been expecting… a model? Or something, he still wasn’t sure. There was a lot of arguing going on. All this because of some man at the airport holding a sign that said ‘Rogers’.
Steve had been on his way out of the airport after he hit baggage claim to go flag down a cab or see if he could get a Lyft or something. The guy holding the sign had been wearing a suit, looking bored, and checking his watch and Steve had thought maybe his friends had gotten him a car home as a surprise? It wasn’t like it was so far out of the realm of possibilities. He’d been gone for the majority of the last four years in the army. They could have wanted to do something nice, so Steve walked up to the guy. “You waiting for Rogers?”
“Yeah, that you?” He looked relieved at the possibility of getting to leave the airport. Steve hated to disappoint the guy, but he also wanted to make sure he wasn’t stealing someone else’s ride.
“Steve Rogers?”
“Eh,” the guy said with a shrug. “I didn’t get a first name. You coming or not?”
“I guess I’m coming?” So, he’s followed the guy out of the airport, into the summer heat, which was a completely different type of heat than the type he’d gotten use to after three deployments to the Middle East.
He was led to a limo, and the man opened the door, holding out his hand. “I’m Happy, by the way.”
Steve switched his duffle to his other hand and shook Happy’s. “Nice to meet you.”
“You want to keep your bag with you are you want to throw it in the trunk?”
“Um.” Steve bent down to get a look at the inside of the limo. “Think I’ll keep it. Thanks though.”
“No problem. Hop in, I know where you’re going so just relax. I hear it was a long flight.”
“The longest,” he said with a sigh. It was what it had felt like at least. He slid into the limo, Happy shut the door behind him, and then got into the driver’s seat. The partition was up, so Steve pulled his phone out of his pocket to send a message to the group chat.
Steve: omw. Flight was fine. So tired
Bucky: great! Cant wait to see you. Nat made the thing with the pasta
Nat: Nat can talk for herself. But I made the alfredo thing is what he means. Also there’s garlic bread
Steve: you’re a saint and not just for putting up with Buck
Bucky: haha you think youre so fucking funny. I dont care youve been in the army I can still kick your ass punk
Steve shook his head. He’d missed them. He let out a slow breath, letting his loll against the back of the seat. This felt like the longest day of his life. He wanted a nap so badly. And why not? There was enough room for him to stretch out back here and the drive from LAX to Pasadena would take a while. Steve laid down across the seat, not even caring about the fact that it wasn’t all that safe, and closed his eyes.
*
Steve felt as if he’d just closed his eyes when someone started nudging his foot and he went from asleep to awake in a second. Pushing up in his elbows he could see Happy leaning in the open door of the limo frowning at him. “Come on, buddy. We’re already late. The boss is gonna have my ass.”
“Boss?” He asked, but Happy had already pulled his head back out and was standing by the open door, waiting for Steve to get out presumably. He shoved his phone, that had fallen onto the floor back in his duffle and slid out of the vehicle.
And froze.
“Where the hell are we?” His eyes scanned his surroundings. This was not Pasadena. This was not Nat and Bucky’s house.
Happy was still frowning at him. “The studio. Come on. Pepper and the makeup and wardrobe guys are waiting over on lot B.”
“I think there might be some kind of…” Steve started, but trailed off when Happy set off at a brisk pace, weaving through the crowd of people. Steve shut the door of the limo since Happy hadn’t and it seemed like he should then set off after Happy before he lost him and maybe his only hope of finding out what was happening.
*
“This is not the guy,” a red haired woman said to Happy for the fourth time, pointing at Steve, talking about him but not too him. That had been happening a lot since he followed Happy onto the lot.
“Pepper, he said his name was Rogers.”
“Ian Rogers, Happy. You were supposed to pick up Ian Rogers not—” ‘Pepper’ broke off and looked at Steve. “I’m sorry, what’s your name?”
“Steve Rogers, ma’am.”
“Right.” She paused for a moment, staring at him, but shook her head and went back to her conversation with Happy. “Not Steve Rogers. You need to go pick up the right guy. He’s still at the airport. His agent just called me, because Ian called him, and I don’t like getting yelled at for things I wasn’t aware were a problem.”
“But traffic is going to be murder,” Happy attempted to complain, but Pepper cut him off in a business-like manner that would have made some of his drills sargeants proud.
“I don’t care about the traffic.” She pulled something out of the folder she was carrying and handed it to Happy. “This is him. Please, go pick him up.” The words made it sound as if Happy had a choice in the manner, but her tone left no room for arguments. Happy looked at the picture Pepper had handed him (Steve took a peek and the only thing he shared with this guy was a last name) and slunk off. Steve felt a little bad for him. It hadn’t been completely Happy's fault, but Steve was a little too tired to work up full blown concern that the guy had to battle LA traffic again.
“Now,” Pepper said, pulling Steve’s focus pack to her. “Mr. Rogers, I’d like to apologize for this mix up.”
“It’s alright, ma’am. If I could just get a ride home, that would be great, though.”
“If you don’t mind waiting a bit longer I can have Happy give you a ride when he gets back,” Pepper said, and Steve did mind a little because he wanted to go home (to Nat and Bucky’s home where he was staying for the time being anyway), carb load on fettuccine Alfredo and garlic bread and then sleep for a week.
He was trying to think of a polite way to tell her he would just get a cab when someone behind him said, “Why is Happy leaving again?”
“Oh, Tony, there you are.” Pepper looked off to a point past Steve’s shoulder and he turned to see who she was talking to. He was wearing a pair of jeans, a Rolling Stones t-shirt and a pair of crazy looking sneakers that made Steve blink. They were bright orange hi-tops that looked like they had paint splatter all over them. His hair was gelled into one of those purposely messy styles that Steve could never pull off, but this guy made look both like he just rolled out of bed and right off a runway, and his goatee was precisely trimmed.
He should have looked like he was trying too hard, but he didn’t. The look fit him somehow and the fact that he was one of the most gorgeous men Steve had seen in a while didn’t hurt. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell wasn’t a thing anymore, but Steve still hadn’t spread it around that he was bi-sexual. And except for a brief fling with a British soldier he’d met in Afghanistan that ended when his deployment did, Steve had dated anyone since.m, if you could consider what he’d had with Peggy ‘dating.’
He hadn’t slept with anyone since either and that had been… more years than he cared to admit. Steve blamed that for the overblown reaction to the man in front of him.
“Sorry, I’m late, hun,” this Tony guy said, kissing Pepper’s cheek when she walked over to him. “Traffic from Malibu was crazy.”
“Yeah, I’ve been hearing all about the traffic today,” Pepper said with a sigh. “But there was a mix up. Happy picked up the wrong person at the airport.”
“What?” Tony’s gaze landed on Steve and he pulled his sunglasses off, a frown pulling down the corners of his mouth. The weight of his dark eyes only rested on Steve for a moment, but it was enough for him to still feel them when he turned away. “How did that happen?”
“Same last name. Tony, meet Steve Rogers.” Pepper gestured to Steve with one hand. Tony was looking at him again and Steve cleared his throat.
“Huh,” Tony murmured. He gave Steve a quick once over and pivoted back to Pepper. “Maybe we could—”
“No,” she interrupted. “Ian has a contract, Tony.”
“Ah, well.” Tony shrugged, tossing Steve a crooked  smile. “Had to try. You would have been perfect.”
“I—thank you,” he stuttered. “Where am I? No one has told me.”
“I’ve had plenty of days like that,” Tony told him in a conspiratorial tone. Steve stares at him blankly. “Anyway. Welcome to Stark Pictures. Sorry about this whole mess. We’re usually more professional.”
“It’s… fine.”
“I’m sure.” Tony didn’t sound convinced and Steve really didn’t want to try and convince him. The other man clapped him on the shoulder. “Listen, why don’t I drive you home. Where do’ya live?”
“Tony,” Pepper started, but Tony ignored her.
“Glendale? Burbank? What’s that one place from that one show?” He snaps his fingers a couple times, looking at Pepper expectantly.
“That’s not helpful,” is all she says.
It doesn’t seem to matter because Tony turns back to Steve. “West Covina. That’s it.”
“Pasadena.”
“Really? You don’t look like someone who’d live in Pasadena.”
Steve doesn’t know what that means. “I’m staying with friends.”
“Ah. Well, grab your stuff. I’ll take you home.”
“Tony, you should stay—”
“Pep, my favorite producer, light of my life, person who allows me to function.” He gripped her shoulders. Steve was really trying to figure out their relationship. “Happy isn’t going to be back anytime soon unless he runs all the red lights between here and LAX. Plus, you don’t need me here. I was just stopping by to stand around a look pretty.”
“Yeah, but Tony—”
“I’m just the owner of the studio, Pepper. You make the real magic happen,” he said, walking away backwards. “Come on, Steve.”
Steve’s desire to go home won out over anything else. “It was nice to meet you,” he tells Pepper, picking up god duffle from where he’d dropped it and double timing to catch up with Tony who was already halfway to the back entrance where he’s walked in.
When they made it outside, Steve stopped in his tracks because damn, this man had a nice car. Attractive, owned a movie studio, and he had great taste in cars? “Is that a—”
“Nineteen sixty-five Shelby Cobra? Yes, it is.” He popped the trunk and Steve stowed his duffle. “Did the restoration on this baby myself.”
“She’s beautiful,” Steve lightly ran his hand along the trim. Bucky was going to be so jealous.
“Thank you.” Something in Tony’s voice had Steve’s eyes popping up. He found Tony watching him. “This might sound a little crazy…”
“Yeah?”
“But did you want to get some dinner?”
“I’d love to,” he found himself saying before he could really think about it.
“Perfect. What are you in the mood for?”
“Honestly?” Steve and Tony climbed into the car. “I’d kill for a burger right now.” Coming almost directly off his last deployment, he hadn’t had a decent one in months.
“You’re in luck, I know where to get the best burgers in Hollywood.”
Tony started the car and drove out of the lot, the car purring. Apparently Tony’s hair hadn’t been styled that way; it was from driving with the top down. Steve could get used to this.
